Hey all,
Just sold my 07' STI and looking at getting myself into something a little cheaper but still fun to drive.
Considering a Nissan S15 Spec-R GT?
What are your thoughts? Suggestions on other cars too please; (Spendage 25K Max)
Cheers Trent.

Very nice car from standard, although a little under powered for some. Nice/comfortable interior & with a few mods will get some good power.
Although with $25K you could get yourself a mint R32 GTR or a nice R33 GTR.
Could also get an FD RX7 if you wanted.
What kind of car are you looking for? Do you want AWD or RWD? Japanese? What do you want it to do?

get a gtr, standard gearboxs in the s15's are rubbish

s15s are *** mad. Great to drive with a few small changes.. And go well with basic stuff done. Very differant to drive compared to a 32/33..

Fantastic car mate, the SR20DET black top are a real screamer of a motor specially with light mods.
Handling is very good and a very smooth car to drive. Personally i think its the best model of all the Silvia models made and delivers fantastic performance, oil changes are a must at every 5000ks.
Theres a difference between a Nissan silvia and a nissan 200sx, 200sx is Australian model with i think 147kw and the Silvia is the jap model which has about 187kw standard. How do you tell a difference? the jap model has a rear wiper on the window and also has unless its been changed an S badge for silvia rather then the Nissan badge.
Some people dont realise the difference and sell the Jap model as cheap as the Aus model, just to keep your head up for one as on car sales you may find a Silvia in the 200sx section of s15's.
If i had to choose my next car this would be it for sure.

A 25k S15 won't have the standard gearbox though, stockers are going for around 15k now.
Great buy in my opinion, I've driven heaps and love em.

mate of mine had a s15 and loved it, was a very nice car and loved a thrashing. they look awesome in my opinion also. he has regretted getting rid of it since the day he sold it. I should add he got rid of it as he couldnt afford it, was 17 at the time, still at school and casual work.

26-07-10, 12:32 GMT+10#11 R33 GTR will be faster & will have loads of grip. They can put the power down in almost any conditions & are quite streetable even with 350KWATW+.
Is it going to be a daily or a weekender? Do you have a preference RWD or AWD?

26-07-10, 18:01 GMT+10#12 driven quite a few S15's, never a 33 gtr. s15s are great in case you couldnt tell already, very nimble on its feet
that said with your money i'd probly go the gtr

26-07-10, 21:07 GMT+10#13 hey mate, i just bought a 99 s15 silvia spec-r 2 weeks ago. jap spec import with white pearl and orange suede interior and only 68,000kms. Awesome car with plenty of potential.
On standard 8psi it's bit of a slug, but can safely handle 14-15psi stock. wound mine up to 12.5psi and it's instantly quicker than my vz ss manual which was dyno tuned to 245rwkw..
BUT the s15 clutch didnt take much of this and i replaced with a heavy duty one yesterday. So far so good. gearbox and motor are very strong and i'm loving this car everytime i get in it!
Goodluck with it.

28-07-10, 13:04 GMT+10#17 That S15 needs to be lowered, it's sitting too high but it looks pretty clean. aftermarket clear indicators? nice, makes a very big difference to the car

31-07-10, 08:29 GMT+10#20 Nah the big spoilers can sometimes look nice, but the trend is to make cars look as "smooth" & "flowing" as possible these days, so most people get rid of the spoiler.
Also, a little off topic, but what would you guys prefer: a 200SX S15 (non turbo) or a Toyota Supra MKIV (non turbo)? Or a Lexus IS300 or Lexus IS250?
