pretty much to sum it up they have better cores and end tank designs improving air flow inside the cooler and also threw it wich gains better removal of heat from the air and less resistance/pressure drops.

My first intercooler was a monza tube & fin intercooler. Wasn't really happy with the lightweight structure. What you'll need to look at is the CFM reading. Also they say Bar & Plate has better heat sink than tube & fin. Airflow & Horsepower calculator in middle of page. Just enter you required horse power & it will state how much CFM your intercooler should be. http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbotech.html

Yep. I'm running 3 inch piping all around & a 600x300x76 bar & plate(tuff car parts intercooler). If your not running any air conditioning you should go for the 600x300x100. Friends told me that if I ran 3 inch piping you'll have lag. Well been in a friends VL turbo which had 2.5 inch intercooler piping & we noticed no difference. lol I started of with a monza intercooler kit and only recently I upgraded to a bar & plate intercooler from tuff car parts. You can buy just the piping kit to suit. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-CALAIS...item5193b07bd6 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-CALAIS-BELINA-VL-RB30-PIPING-ONLY-NO-INTERCOOLER-/350370167766?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5193b07bd6) Or buy the full intercooler kit. A hole will have to be cut in your engine bay just beside the turbo.(the hole has a diameter of 2 inch's) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-CALAIS...item5193b07c70 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-CALAIS-BELINA-VL-RB30-DELTA-FIN-INTERCOOLER-KIT-/350370167920?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5193b07c70)

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

obviously wiith dosing in mind performance isnt going to be a deciding factor, but im wondering what experiences people have had with cheap ebay coolers, how well they performed (relative to their price of course, not relative to their expensive trialed and tested counterparts) and which ebay sellers can be considered reliable. There is much talk of these gktech cooler kits on here, are they woth the hype and the $600 price tag? I am looking to fit a cooler to a stock setup with the standard 6psi boost and just want to know what other people have used and how it worked for them (in terms of intercooler), It would be hidden as well, and i do not want to cut up any holes. Do different coolers/piping drastically affect the quality of the dose? And what have other people with stock vlt's used/would reccomend for the main principle of dosing. Thanks any feedback would be appreciated

^ Even I think you are too obsessed with dosing....

well im looking to keep the car stock, with exception of intercooler and dose pipe. I'm not asking "how do i gett my caqr to dose", im asking what experriences have people had with these cheapo's, how do they perform on a stocker, do they affect the clarity, quality, and definition of the dose... and are there any "reliable" sources for these items. Gktech seems to be thrown around a fair bit, but i cant find any search results of what people think of themm

theres pretty much no difference intercooler to intercooler in sound of dose sound is more dependent on the size and length of pipe then also how much psi your then running through it 6 psi on a t3 with 2.5" pipe is going to give your runn of the mill hollow sounding dose
