Hey all, ive been on this site a few times but decided it was time to sign up when I got my first VL. was surfing carsales one day and found this and decided there and then I wanted it! I was pondering on the idea of selling my other car because I dislike having debt hanging over my head, so this pretty much made the idea a reality. so now no debt so the details are, 1987 VL calais 217XXXkms completely stock apart from alpine head unit and 6x9s cost me around 2600 the interior is in decent condition for its age, all electrics work fine (pop up light motor is sounding a bit sick though) and the front bumper will be replaced eventually. also has a small rust patch on rear window sill but its nothing major. I've never posted pics before so I hope this comes out ok! will post more pics when I get around to washing it let me know what you think! cheers guys Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok havnt posted in a loooong time but I totally forgot I made this thread haha. since I got it I have: lowered it (properly) SSV VE 19s 2.5" exhaust Rear venetians AND put new headlights in it with ADR approved brightest headlights its taken awhile but I was seriously considering selling it for awhile. but figured if I bought something newer it'd be a waste of money and I'd be in DEBT AGAIN which I seriously dislike. so now I plan on: rust repairing and full respray in stock color getting all new plastics re-upholstering interior in a slightly brighter cream velour big sound system rebuilding motor and turbo heres some pics as it is now Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

mate sell it and buy something newer you say you don't want to waste $ yet you'll already spent $ on wheels etc and you're about to waste lots more $ on a VL (respray/rebuild of eng/new interior etc etc) that you won't ever get back and it's still a very high theft risk and will be even higher risk once you finished a later model car will be more comfortable/safer/faster/more reliable and cheaper to insure plus you'd be able to park it anywhere at any time add up what you anticipate you would spend at the end of the day and see what the same $ will buy you in the later model car market

yeah I considered all that, but with this I can slowly build it instead of paying alot up front for a newer car (VZ was my aim) and I was going to get a V8 in it, if I spent the same amount of money on the vl (over time) that I would buy the stock VZ V8 with I'd have an awesome VL! and yeah I know its stolen easily but I'd put a real nice alarm and whatnot in it and I wouldnt park in dodgy spots lol. and the rims I can take with me :P also what persuaded me was the vz would just devalue quickly, Id keep the vl for a long time if I did all this stuff to it. and everyone seems to be getting VY/VZs now. so its a little different. all in all Im happy with my choice, Ive grown close to this ****ty vl lol

Quote: "I'd have an awesome VL" you could buy a VL with all the work already done for heaps less than getting it done to yours plus yours will be off the road for much of the time being worked on a VZ won't depreciate that much, most of the depreciation takes place in the first few years in trying to be different you're just going down the same road as hundreds of others, check carsales for all the modded VLs for sale cheap, some good some heaps

dont worry about what the people above are saying man, you have a nice vlc now turn into what you want, dont sell it and go buy a vy ss, vy clubby, vx clubby or whatever just mentioning a few common cars these days and be a sheep like everyone else, be different, but in saying that you have a vlct but its abit different then going on the hwy every friday night and seeing 3million vy's vx's and xr6t's
