vs clubby manual vs. ve clubby manual. what would you do to the vs to make it beat the ve (standard)?? ---------- Post added 11-06-10 at 21:58 ---------- sorry. i know ppl will ask "beat it in what way" i mean for example .. vs to beat the ve up an 1/8 mile and up a 1/4 mile. more so 1/8th as thats what the local track is. and not worried bout hp figures. just want it to beat it in a race

huh? over 400? a 6.2 would be a 383, but anyway... but im thinking this way.. with a good diff ratio and a slightly lighter car i wont need quite as much power as a 307 or 317 kw clubsport to beat it will I? so how much power and what diff ratio would i need to beat it?

dude a naturally aspirated 5l (bigger cam, new manifold, new heads, 355 even)would smoke a standard 6.2 litre, there heavy as ****, something like 4.11 diff gears, with a worked auto (b&m shifter etc..) bigger wheels wouldnt hurt either, set it up for drag spec in other words.. if thats all you want to do? just beat a ve clubby? lol 317kw is at the engine, so 250rwkw and what i wrote before should be sweet.

does your car have a 215 or a 185? If it's a 215 then it makes life easier. You could get one of the procharger/supercharger kits for $5K chuck that on with some injectors and make 250rwkw with some nice torque

no clubbys were 215, only senator and gts. Throw on a vortech, fuel system and you will lunch the stock T5 so you'll need a t56. You will toast it.

Woops didnt read it fully lol Yeah what 7FOUR7 said. Also, a T5 can handle the power if you respect it. But if you have the money deffinitely go the T56 or a built auto.

around 10g? Mate you'd be lucky to build a box and a bottom end for 10g. Expect ALOT more if your looking for power.....

LOL are u kidding? Have you driven a LS3 clubby? they actually go pretty well. A 5ltr is DREADFULLY slow infact Id put money on a VN series 1 manual, beating a 5ltr VS most of the time. Honestly to convincingly beat a VE clubby on the street your up for a LOT of cash, those things are brilliant, push in the traction control button and hold on! I have had two reasonable v8s, a VN BT1 with a 355 stroker, 4.11 gears, TH400.. etc and it ran a flat 13 standard in full street trim. The VS GTS had the 215i bottom end and a vortech with 14psi, manual and headwork, cam, exhaust... and honestly it may of just kept up with a LS3 powered clubby.

i have actually, and yes they are brilliant, and if i didnt have a kid on the way id upgrade me clubby but cant. a. gotta buy a family friendly car so this clubby is what i have to work with as a toy plus i have another long term project. and ^^^ a stroker with 14psi cam and zorst, you dont think that should be able to keep up with stock ve ? surely somthing wrong was goin on there. and i know how to make the car powerful, thats fine. but i was askin how to make the car quicker up the straight. oh and i have a t56 just need to get the rest of parts to bolt it in ---------- Post added 13-06-10 at 12:27 ---------- ahh F*** it. i'll just wait and charge it or twin turbo it with me t56 with 3.9's or somthin.

Quicker....suspension, weight, gearing, stall. List goes on mate! I'd be looking at those things first! I suppose a bit of top end work...should get her moving!

The LS3 stock is rather fast for what it is. They turn 250-260rwkw stock as a rock. The midrange/top end punch is strokerish due to the cubes they pull however maintaining the over square bore to stroke combo rev cleanly right through to 6500rpm. They have 3.7's diff ratio out of the factory which helps. They will sink into the 12's on factory rubber/pulp fuel.. A tune and the right bolt-on bits will see them heading to the 290-300rwkw zone. I think for you in your case. A good set of heads, some real compression 10+:1, a decent bump stick (288 ??), 3.9s and 3600-4K stall will have it making some good poke. Factory FE2 suspension, some decent drag radials and you will see you 60ft drop and you will streak ahead over the 1/8th mile. The VE will make the most ground on you after the 60ft so I think this is where your money is best spent.

I certain bloke here in the ACT has a 500+rwkw procharged VE GTS. He constantly refers to it as the slow piece of ****. While bagging his own car constantly praises cars much slower than his. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Im talkin on the street too, no slicks or anything like that - 19" tyres and standard IRS. I had it on the dyno and it made 330rwkw or there abouts with some fresh fuel, dropped pipes and water spray hooked up. If you were running the car roll on style from 80kmh onwards yeah itd smash an LS3 to bits, infact itd leave most cars for dead - awesome top end. But even though it had the power I found it just struggled to get it to hook up properly, itd either hose the tyres or itd bog down and be slow to come up on boost (probably a loading problem). A stock LS3 powered car is consistantly fast and on the street Im just sayin they are easy targets.
