The other day I was sitting at traffic lights waiting for my green arrow when I noticed a few of the cars coming the opposite way were getting flashed by a red light camera... how unlucky.
Today I went through that same intersection and the same direction as the previous red light flashee's and got flashed.
The strange thing is the light had only just flicked from green to orange and was still full orange when the flash occured. There was another car about half a car length in front of me in the next lane who got flashed too.
Is this red light camera faulty or is it just 'testing' ?
I read in the local paper last week about a seperate intersection within the same area that had red light camera testing going on where people were being flashed because the camera's are new.
What do you think? I didn't run a red so I wouldn't want to cop a fine for it.

perhaps give vic roads a call, or whoever it is that operates them.
if you look on the box nearby it should say 'for camera faults please call...'
a lot of the new red light cameras are also speed cameras, i got done like that, sped up to get the yellow and got flashed for speed. perhaps you or the guy next to you was speeding?

Should be right. I noticed the one on kings way has a sign saying camera testing but didn't go off when I was there, yet the one on Bayswater and mountain highway goes off that much I would think they're testing and if not they would be make a $1k each change of lights.
They only go off a certain amount of time after the light turns red and you cross the pads.

I searched the internet and couldn't find any info on who to contact?
I wasn't speeding either... I putt around in the work car.

As useless as Vicroads are, I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction at least. Give them a call tomorrow.

Red light cameras are being modified to record video, and measure speed. some of these are installed and working already in WA.
before they are installed the intersection needs to be measured out by surveyors and they run a bunch of tests for timing etc.
i could be totally wrong... but if this it happenine over east too then you might have just seen the test flashes... (they do it for a few days then hack the road up and put in the new sensors)

There was a red light camera at an intersection which kept flashing cars. My bro got flashed for no reason too, so he went to the police station and they said it was faulty and no fines will be issued out for that period

Camera at the corner of Warrigal and Centre Dandenong flashed me when I was going through the intersection across the cameras angle (ie: different road to where it is positioned) - it had been knocked dowqn the week before, so they can definiely **** up!

you dont have to worry, when the camera takes a photo, in the photo you can see the traffic lights as well as your car, so even if u do get a fine you can ask to see the photo and you will be able to see of it was orange or red when it took a photo. but i would say it was on test mode or it is faulty. same thing happened to me on hume hwy few months ago and i never got a fine.

11-06-10, 14:29 GMT+10#12 its ok..... if u get fined request the picture because the camera has the traffic light in its view which would show the red globe glowing same thing happned... went down the civic compliance place in the city and then they dismissed
