Hey Guys Iam wanting to change my real parcel shelf as the owner before hadnt done a great job of it although as i change my parcel shelf i also want to add an extra set of speakers in there to. At the moment i got Alpine 6x9's in the rear but not to sure what i can put in there now as i really want more clarity out of these next speakers and less bass, still would like to stick with Alpine. So what are the best Alpine speakers or other brand speakers that i can put in there for Maximum clarity and not base. Also to power them can i link them up to the 6x9s that are in there now at the moment to get power out of them? Thanks Dean

Alpine Type R's are fairly good. Running a set of splits & 6x9's in the VZ. You have to beware that once you hook up another set of speakers to the same speaker line you'll be halving the watts to each speaker. Are you running a amp?

first thing is man.... you have subs so you dont even need 6 x 9s there is no need for a bass producing rear speaker. personally id sell the 6 x 9s you have and fit a decebt set of 6.5" speakers in there splits if you can afford it. and dont worry bout fitting two sets rear fill as it will mess with your load and ohms just my 2 cents Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Is it worth me putting in 2 sets of the 6.5" speakers. And what brand do i go for, keep it with Alpine?

I'd stay with alpine. Each manufacture has a different frequency response. Keeping the same brand allows for best clarity & speaker sensitivity.

Is there 2 types of 6.5" splits, which is better? I guess more expensive the better.

Alpine make three different types of splits. Type X is many used for competition http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=83 Type R is between standard & competition http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=87 Type S is your standard split speaker http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=93 I'm using type R & can't be happier.

What AMP do you have powering them? Also what do people think of the Clarion splits?

the clarion tweeters are wonderfull, but the speakers themselves, dont hold up so well, one of mine shat itself after 6-7 months. My experiance anyway, As Far as your parcel shelf goes, if you want i can make you a miky fibre glass one for a few hundred, yes they still fit with venetians can send pics or wateva done a few now Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I rather do my own Parcel shelf and to be honest hate that fiberglass look in a older vehicle specially if its just gonna be on the back parcel shelf. Looks like im gonna have to go for Alpines, rather them anyway. Anyone know of where to buy Alpine stuff for cheaper?

lol dude its called foam, spray adhesive and whatever material you like. Head down to chadstone in JB-hifi and ask for michael, hes a woggy looking character, top bloke will always give you the best price, anyway, I got a set of Alpine splits and tweeters with built in cross overs for $200. Orginally $250. Mate got an aux, mp3 head unit with 6" speakers for $150 in some jvc deal. Orig 200. Top bloke

hay mate.. i found it easier to take my parcel shelf out and build my own... the previous owner of my cars was a sht builder and he used ply bored and put a set of kingwood 6x9 in there.. still sounded good but it was crap... and looked crap... so i took it out and traced the shape onto a peice of beautiful looking wood for the floor of a house and made a parcel shelf and dropped a new set of 6x9 in that.. i also made a set of boxes that slant towards the front of that car that hold me 6x4 i now have the 4 speakers on the parcels shelf a pari of realy high quality kenwoods in the front x2 10" 1500watt subwoofers and a kenwood cd player.... its sounds like a charm but unfortunalty i can hook my subs up yet because i cant find a 3000watt amp anywhere near where i live... pity.. hope that helps... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Bridgey i know what im doing lol, im just asking for good speakers buddy, why did you make a parcel shelf out of floorboards must look dog ugly, post up a picture. Anyway, I bought my self some new 6x9's, they are Orions 6x9 XTR , they produce 100w RMS, i compared them to Kenwood, Clarion, Sony and they seemed to be the most clear and quality speaker. What are peoples oppinions on them?
