AHAHA thought i would share this funny story with you guys...
so i rocked up home today to find a letter from the epa about my vl (GMVLLE)
as a few would know my vl is absolutely standard "all show no go" standard exhaust, intake EVERYTHING! lol so i read through it and it says that on the morning of the calaisturbo cruise on dudley st my vehicle was lodged by a officer of the everionment protection authority that my vehicle was considered to be to LOUD! now you tell me how a standard vl can make that much noise... the car has never had an aftermarket exhaust ever... engine bay looks like it just got released from holden? are they a joke or what becuase i find it fairly funny that these retards have sent me this letter.... i would like to know if i should get them to send a letter to GMH stateing that their cars that wer in production from 1986-1988 are TO LOUD!!
A joke is wht i call these guys!

The EPA isn't a joke, the Policeman responsible for forwarding that to the EPA is. Sounds like you have nothing to worry about. Consider yourself lucky!

I dont think you'll still be laughing when you have to pay the $40 for the test to prove you're within legal limits. You should be able to send it to the police for reimbursement when you're found not guilty.

LOL, ive seen your car alot so i know why it is so funny... dude if i was you id make a big deal about it...
If you havnt seen this car its the type of vl that you could put standard hubcaps on and sit it in a showroom.
Also yeti- its cool his got nothing to worry about but its just the hassle now of getting tested etc, all for nothing

see something should be able to be done about this. you cant just keep giving people EPA's if you dont know anything about the car or its standard. its a waste of time on everyone.
im noticing this type of stuff is happening heaps now. they are cracking down harder and harder but to pick on std cars just because ur on a cruise thats just weak. id be seeing what can be done about it once the car passes.

02-06-10, 01:14 GMT+10#13 Let us know if you can get the officer's name.
A mate received an EPA in the mail for a Mazda 3 with an small exhaust and it passed no worries. Called the EPA up and they said they couldn't give out the name of the officer that reported it... so much for accountability.

02-06-10, 05:45 GMT+10#14 The thing is tho - they can issue anyone the notice even if it is stock or quiet - simply because if you go there and pass they can and do say you must of changed it back.
I got EPA'd in my STOCK Daewoo Lanos lol - so it happens to pretty much everyone.
Being reimbursed for your costs just wont happen either - I got a car impounded 3 years ago and found not guilty for what the police officer originally wrote me down for allegedly committing and no conviction was recorded, car was still impounded - judgement came later after the punishment.

exaclty right, they do it to all cars, when ever they like. a tmu officer told me that they dont care anymore to pull u over or to look under the bonnet anymore, if they feel like it they will just get your rego and send you a epa letter, your lucky u just copped a noise epa, and your car is stock so it`s easy to pass. my mate (vh 355 stroker) copped a epa letter in the mail and it was a full epa, so it had to go to the private testing station (no longer the epa testing station in macleod). the engine had to come out and we put a stock engine in it to pass the epa, so much stuffing around its not worth copping a epa agian. epa have given a licence (like a roadworthy licence but just for epa) to 2 workshops in melbourne, one in werribee and the other in moorabbin. and they go through the car very throughly. so everything has to be up to epa standards otherwise they dont pass the car as their licence will be at risk.
another mate of mine got pulled over in a vl turbo by tmu officer recently, he asked to open the bonnet and my mate said it doesnt open, so the officer went to the front of the car saw the cooler came back checked the his licence and said thats fine, didnt argue or say nothing to the driver, 2 weeks later he copped a full epa in the mail, samething engine had to come out to pass emission test at the epa station.....
so epa is not a joke they will give epa`s just to make sure the car is epa complient. and a full epa they know there will be no doggy epa`s given out to clear the epa, so in their eyes (police) its easier just to give a epa out then it is to pull over the car and check everthing. in my opinion its not worth having a car that is heavily modifed these days that wont pass epa, when you cop a full epa then you know the pain and hassle..... and at the end its not worth it anymore.....

02-06-10, 07:25 GMT+10#16 I got EPA'd when my VL was NA with standard airbox and exhaust. Being a young smart arse i thought it was hilarious to stir up a breatho station with my 12k stereo. Basically, we drive VL's so this sort of thing is going to happen
