No experience with these motors but from what I've read on here and other forums, the ignition module is a good place to start, the little metal box near the left strut. Does it try to start at all, or is there nothing at all when you turn the key? ie: does the starter operate? My VL would sometimes do nothing at all, dash lights working, etc. Found the ground wire to the relay for the starter was loose. Sorted that, all good.
Possibly the neutral stat switch if it's an auto.

will be the contacts on your keyhead. pretty sure u need a new keyhead. mines being playing up for ages now lol and finally doesnt work at all. normally if u give the key a tap lock and unlock the car it will work.

Yep, sounds like keyhead for sure. Different dealers will vary on price slightly. Have heard anywhere between $120 - $180. Some locksmiths can do them for $70ish if they have the right gear to program them.

Fixed the problem.

if it completely packs it in the key head i mean leave the ignition on for 45 minutes and the car will start then drop it off to holdens.i think i payed $110 to get a new key head.and you cant change the battery as the contacts are solderd to the battery.you can brake them and try another battery i did and as far as i know it still works.

28-05-10, 21:24 GMT+10#10 Forgot the key thing. Had this on my old VT. A trick I was shown is to pop the metal contact on the ignition barrel and stretch the spring a bit to make it sit out more, then it should contact the bit on the key and hopefully work. But yes it's that bit on the key that wears down, a new key will be needed in the end.

either that or put a positive wire from battery straight to your purple wire (2 pin plug) near fusebox. save the wait =)

15-06-10, 08:38 GMT+10#16 try cleaning the earth wire from the engine block to the car body. I replaced heaps of things on my old senator and the problem was still there. gave the earth a sand as well as the car body where the wire makes contact and she was good ever since. definately try the free simple things first
