This was sent to me earlier today from Jon Davison to update the "Easternats" facebook fan page.
Have a read:
All entry, garage hire, mates rates and camping fees will be repaid exactly as explained in a earlier letter. but I requires time. I have worked to hard over the last fourteen years to build the EASTERNATS into the best event in Australia to let it fail now. I have also met with the Hon Gordon Rich Phillips MLC who is the Member for the South Eastern Metropolitian Region to support the EASTERNATS return to Sandown and have requested a meeting with the Mayor of Greater Dandenong Cr Jim Mememti in early May. You may be interested to know that according to the councils own research, the EASTERNATS provided in excess of $7 Million worth of economic benefit to the area annually and was the venues best attended event. It is a disgrace that we have all been denied the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic event which was created as a direct result of a request by council and was always conducted in a spirit of cooperation with the police and the councils officers". The riot was a bad error of judgement but it did show the support for the event and the importance of it continuing. Please remember the riot did not happen at the event but occured as a direct result of it being cancelled.
The website will be updated and a news section included to keep everyone informed. stand by for further details and announcements as I am working very hard to ensure the event continues.
Regards and thank you for your support
Jon Davison .

lol
as much as i want it to return to sandown and be on again, im not gona get to excited over this
i mean its good news and sounds positive but im tired of gettn all excited for the return of easternats only to get disapointed when it all falls through
BUT!, i will be watching the site to see what happens
fingures crossed but dont get to hyped up guys
LOL i dont understand why he is holding peoples money? There was no easternats this year, which people paid for. Plenty of people waiting for their money back! alot of people waiting for nearly 500 bucks!
he isnt holding it, he is trying to get it back! as it comes through he is paying it back. all the money he had for the event he put into advertising, solicitors etc. that stuff isnt cheap!
ha, u think he would have had money to do all that, instead of using everyones cash. thats dodgy as. if i was holding an event i would think,,,hang on a minute what if something doesnt work out and i have to refund money.

you mean he spent it?
The money he gets for the entry's etc goes back into the event. Clearly not everything is profit, its not a cheap event to run.
The costs on advertising and solicitor fee's etc has put him behind the mark, u can understand why he cant afford to pay everyone straight away but im sure jon will be a man of his word and come thru in the end. Remember everyone is out of pocket here, but the main person hit was jon with all the money he has lost by putting it back into the event that has not gone ahead. everyone will get there money back which is a very noble thing!!!

The easternats has been a successfully run event for MANY years now, what has happened in this case was unfortunantly unforeseeable... Im sure you can understand ths...???
Everyone needs to stop judging him, at least he is trying to support our car scene and give us events. u dont see the rich people helping out or the government cos THEY DONT CARE! give the man a break he has worked very very hard for this!

You cant put the entrants in the same boat as Jon in regards to losing money, they paid for an event that didnt happen. He was investing money, to make money.
Giving people back their money isnt noble, it stops a 1000 claimant ($500 a pop) law suit.

I am in no way saying Jon doesnt support the scene, but i would be fuming.. It's alot of money, especially for alot of the entrants who would be either on apprenctice wages or young first home owners

well no offence to anyone but if you are struggling that much you shouldnt be wasting money on cars...
All im saying is if you enter an event like this its more then likley going to cost you more money then just entry fee's you have to allow for things to go wrong epsecially given the nature of the event with Burnouts/drags etc etc.
Like i said, give him some time to pay the money back and good on him for supporting our dying car scene.
