driving into town last night car was runnning fine, no knocks or power issues. then when i pulled over for a while (half a hou or so) and got into start it it didnt have enough power to turn over, so i got some mates to push start it. so anyway about a km after taking off everything started loosing power in cabin, stereo was in and out turning off, interior lights where dimming. then when turned into a street to look at it rolling along the engene started to run real lean and then need revs to hold it on. as soon as i stoped revs everything cut out and then had no power to turn over, just enough to put windows up.
i thought i would let it sit for 20 and reconnect and clean out all the plugs in the bay like dizzy, cas ect. as a simmilar thing happened to me before but im positive it had nothing to do with it. i turned ignition on, listening for the fuel pump. it made a wierd screeh once then tried a second and third time nothing but usual sounds?
car is now dead flat in a car park.
everything is stock standard, but my fuel sender is broken that may of shorted it? (yes it had fuel)
i know its hard to be a mechanic off 10 lines of paper, but any experiance or help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Classic signs of the alternator not charging. You were basically running off the battery alone and as it started getting flatter, more things started to go wrong.

Yep it's the most frustrating thing, happened to me many times before the problem was found. Actually wasn't the alternator in my case. There was no sense wire from the battery in the boot to the alternator. Seems to have fixed it.

Same thing happened to me and it was the alternator as other people have said
go to a wreckers and buy another alternator, should be more than $70.
get them to check it on a bench tester to make sure it still charges though. or if they wont get them to give you a warranty

alternator... or check the plugs going towards it, thought mine was dead but just a plug was loose behind the alternator

yeah i'v had ^^^ ****ty terminals in the plug on the back of the alternator before causing no charge.
but definitely sounds like it the alternator. just check your earth leads and the terminals on them also.
