Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Basically need a fuel pump to support a holley fed supercharged (vortech blow through) 308 that does circuit work. The car made 390rwkw@ 8psi last time on the dyno but had to back off at 6200 as it went lean, the engine spins to 7600 so will be well over 400kw.
Theres alot of pumps on the market but most are only suitable for short duration work like drag racing etc.
It currently has 2 carter pumps, one 7 pound and the other 15 pound from memory (second pump switched on when on boost) but this still isnt enough fuel flow.
Anyone got a similar setup or any ideas on which direction we should head in?
Cheers.
You could look at the aeromotive or magnafuel pumps... but you might need a bank loan to buy one!
What about a few 044's? Theyre cheap and seem to flow the numbers when used together. I know of cars pumping 30psi through them and making over 400kw.
044 are high pressure pumps, you really need high volume low pressure pumps due to the carbie. 2 carter blacks I thought would of been ok. You can run high pressure pumps but you will need to find a reg to drop a fair bit of pressure off and run a return line. Im not sure what the Holly pumps are ratted to but I have seen fairly large power made with them. What pressure are you looking at running at the carbie?
It has a BG reg on it that can be used to drop the pressure but unsure as to whether it will be enough if an efi pump is used.
Obviously we cant go too much higher in pressure otherwise the balls will be pushed off their seats and flood the carb.
Ideally we need a big displacement pump that can supply a large volume at low pressure.
Have spoken to VPW but same story, most are suitable for short time running only......not worth risking the engine for.
Maybe something like this..?

belt driven pumps....

Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and an Aeromotive 13204 reg is what you want. Should cost you around $450-$500us plus delivery if you buy off someone like Jegs or Summit.
Have you sorted this?
You mentioned Blow through... Is the carbs sealed pressure box at 1+atmosphere per boost for stabilised enrichment? What you mentioned is exactly what happens when theres an air leak.
