Hey guys,
My father was playing around with these cables that run along underneath the glove box trying to get them to sit up higher so you wouldn't see them, he's tugged on something as now when you turn it up to say 25/30 on the headunit each heavy bass hit it'll sound like the contacts are falling off then reattaching in that split second, like the vibration causes a tiny gap then reconnects. We've pulled out the headunit and checked all the wires and nothing we can see is wrong, all four speakers do it inside the cabin so we're not even sure which wire it is.
(Thin blue one is the control or whatever that goes to AMP, same with the thick blue ones - L/R.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

sounds like an earth problem, check your earth contacts for the headunit

seperate the RCA leads from the REMOTE WIRE. the remote wire drags power from the rca's when you turn it up,
or another is that your battery may not have enough power output, was the car running or turned off. you may need to wire in a compasitor.

May be to the first but it's always been like this? Maybe remove the cable tie? Sound system will "click" whether the car is on or off, sometimes it will do it sometimes it wont, I can have it up really loud and not click, then all of a sudden there might be a deep bass hit and it'll start clicking every hit and not stop until I turn the system down really low.
Cheers.

As mentioned check your earths and run a capacitor. also check all the conections to the amp/s too. maybe one loose being moved around by the bass when ya crank it. How old is your battery too?

yer piss that cable tie off and try seperating them a bit, trust me ive had some thumping sound systems and i,ve had the same problem lol
if its a really big system i would be wiring in a compasitor to save colapsing battery cells.
and if its an old battery i would replace it.
and a earth shortage is a common problem, try even running 2 earths

I'll double check the earths, where does the capacitor go? My battery is starting to give up the ghost, sometimes it takes two cranks to start the car. The system is just a standard system comprising of Kenwood and Clarion's, where would my earths be? (This system was installed by previous owner), do I just pull out the head unit and look for a brown or black cable running to a bolt somewhere on the body?
Cheers.

most compacitors wire in to the main power that runs to the amp and earth it to the body.
yer have a look where the black wire goes from the head unit. it will either be screwed to the dash some where, or connected to the excisting earth wire.
there should be a earth running from the amp. and check the earth on the battery, clean the contacts etc

Currently I think the speakers inside the car are running off the headunit so I'm not sure if the Amp would effect anything? I'll have to check the Earth as thats probably the most likely as with vibrations it may jump off.

and the remote trigger wire draws hardly any power so it won't induct any noise on the RCA lines

borci88-
depending on what watts your speakers are it doesnt really effect it, unless your running a double set of splits or huge set of 6x9's

22-04-10, 16:11 GMT+10#12 has anyone bothered to mention that maybe tghe speakers are clipping? maybe they aren't run in or maybe your amp tuning is off or maybe they just cant handle the power. clipping will destroy your speakers.

As stated already, sound system was running fine until a wire was pulled, all 4 speakers are being run off the head unit and not the Amp so clipping should not apply here, cheers anyway.
