Guys,
Ive just purchaced a nissan patrol with an rb30 carby motor and im going to inject and turbo it.
So im wondering if anyone knows weather you could fit a gas injection system to it.
Has anyone done this and the costs involved
Places to ring for more information
pros and cons
thanks
i think theres only one big company that can sell liquid injection systems, or it all comes from one parent company or some such thing. and you'd be looking at 4-5k for the complete system.
mate was thinking about doing it on his car recently but his tuner advised against it, said a conventional mixer type system is better, problem with the newer injection systems is cheap electronics controlling them. thats his opinion not mine
They have been doing sequential vapour injection for a while on LS series motors, and more recently liquid injection. It is limited in power terms to a certain degree. Having only 6 injectors would limit you moreso. I know of one guy with close to 400hp at the treads using only a single set on injectors. I think presently for larger power options guys are running two tanks, two hi pressure liquid pumps and two lots of injectors.
APS would be a good place to start. I think they recently did a whipple blown LS2 which made pretty good power.
or you can buy the vapour injection kits off ebay foraround $500
a few falcon guys have purchased them and installed themself from an existing install (ie tank already installed)
apparently only good for 160rwkw though :/
it will be good once this information becomes more common, will be great to see the setups the ppl put together
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
well its for a patrol so power doesnt need to be too high as ill break stuff up the bush plus there could be reliabilty issues, i still want petrol too cause not all places sell gas
i want to be able to drive on gas to places drive up the bush till it runs out then petrol remainder till i can fill the gas up again
as it's a patrol it's not worth getting a gas injection system because conventional gas is alot cheaper and has alot less problems the only thing is it has less power.
but if ur keeping your fuel tank then just switch over to fuel if u need power
plus alot of conventional gas systems are fixable with a can of contact cleaner and a spanner set

why does it have less problems?? a convetional system wont work well with a turbo system with intercooler, could one of those gas throttle bodies work with dual fuel??
it will be a dual fuel system, i want it to be as efficient as possible and the injection systems are more efficient

for an injection system (vapour or liquid) to support over 200rwkw you will be paying out the ass.
as in the throttle body type?? do they work well dual fuel

whats it worth to get a gas research set up done on a vlt, say to support 300rwkw causing putting petrol in it is a joke atm as a daily
Around $3500 fitted, less ($1750) govt. rebate.
You will have to order a modified tank with twin outlets to make that power, a second B2 convertor and retain ECU for timing advance and retard.
The Gas Research website should have most of the info.
GASRB6 is on the money 100%
you can get the converters and t/b second hand to save a bit
and even install the tank and run the lines and mount the ****, a gas shop will want to do the safety relay and hook up the lines though
UK ebay have vapour injection parts cheap, and an MS ecu will run them if you use resistors or a stand alone driver box. The problem is most mixer systems when turbo'ed will make more power than most vapour inj systems, and to make good power with vapour inj you need lots of hardware.
Liquid injection can make good power but all the parts are designed for modern cars, they are not that capable of making big power either, well that is to say that its not cost effective to make big power with either LI or VI.
But VI is aceivable for not that much money, and it will deliver better mileage over mixer systems, but in a 4wd I'd think the added complexity wouldn't be desirable at all. Just another ecu to fry when you get stuck in a river...etc etc.
Just go the gas research set up,no injectors no computer.Go for the high mount turbo too as the stock set up(low)fouls the engine mount i think(Patrol only)
Keeps it away from the water too.
If you are worried about range then fit a second tank.
