In my experience anything paid for it would be money poorly spent. Aside from the fact that the facilities need to be redone to make people want to head out there and enjoy their time there, too many people from Melbourne complain that the track is too far away and straight out refuse to drive "all that way" to Heathcote. The area has a lot of potential but is fighting more than just it's dated grounds, it has Victorians' mentality to change as well...

It is like an hour from northern subs, why would people need accomodation? I actually agree with a lot of what liam is saying

In Sydney people's mentality is totally different. We have guys drive down from Newcastle and up from Wollongong, both an hour and a half from the track, just to race at Wednesday night street meets. This was the only track Melbourne had for so long and people still didn't support it. You can only help people that want to help themselves. If I bought first thing I'd do is tar the pits and generally tidy the place up but it still wouldn't change the way people thought about it because no one would bother coming out to race there, they'd all just form facebook groups about not having a race track and attend public rallies instead of actively enjoying what they did have...

the track has potential purely because it is known. it needs a resurface to bring it up to scratch and the parking / facilities need a rethink. most of all what it needs is someone to manage PR and arrange bookings / events. think about les adams. he's on here and pretty much every other forum as "les." he posts up events and drawcards and answers any concerns or questions. he and a few others close to him also run the website for his events and media / sponsors / god knows what else. as far as i know heathcote doesn't have anyone representing them on forums, no internet site, (and if they do it must be poorly managed as i have never heard of it.) imagine if they had someone as motivated as the vltnats crew to organise events? that would be awesome but a full time job.

I actually agree with a lot of what liam is saying yep true. my mrs old man lives in northen subs, its actually not that bad from there, but from my joint in SE subs it ends up being just over 2 hours which is a bit annoying but i dont mind driving out there to race. always nice to have something really close though which i cant see happening

ok sunday racing at heathcote lets say your car is making over 1000 rwhp, and u live in south east LIAM that is the nice side of melbourne not over the west gate area u load trailer night before and have it on the car ready to go then u go to bed if u have kids you get up get tour self ready then the kids so im guessing latest time u leave home is 7am you arive 10 or 11 deppending if you stop for morning tea and the kids needin to piss then you arive unload ur **** and race so i would say ur racing around 12 30 so pack up and leave 5-6 if u dont stop for dinner ur home 9 then wash the kids and then in bed 11 ohhhh fk if you borrowed the trailer return that **** also then work monday!!! ohh and cause ur racing a car with so much mumbo you need to also remember i pray before each pass to not hit the wall due to princess hwy having a better surface mitch heathgote doesnt need pr all they do is sunday racing and the ls1 nats, as i said while calder was closed russel could have made it worth it bu re doing the track set the joint up and have 2 day events

that track can be fixed for anything around the 80k mark and might be if it ends up in the right hands.... track.. not facilities

In regards to the 'fixing', it all comes down to money. Just to Tar the pits would cost an absolute bomb. You'd easily run to 100 grand just on that. It's old, it's country but it's alright. It's great for weekends away racing for me due to the 3.5 hour drive, plus having to take a Friday off work to get up there for Saturday racing. Now that Calder is open (for god knows how long) there would obviously be less traffic to heathcote and if Calder ran a Saturday / Sunday drag day then you could kiss Heathcote good bye. You could do smarter things with your money. If you built something in Gippsland you'd be better off.
