Hello i'd like to know who has customised there stanard vlt plenums to run the a throddle body out the front of it rather than out the right hand side?
Cause i have a spare top half of one and em thinking of trying it and maybe even extending it out a little bit.
Any feed back or thoughts would be great thanx

maatouks and rajabs, Duz360 and SPP have done variations of the same idea, all work pretty much the same.. and the main benefit is ease of cooler piping installation.

no breathers, there is the wate rlines missing and not needed and vac lines, which can be accessed from the exsting lines at the rear of the plenum.

31-10-10, 18:26 GMT+10#10 keeping the stock chamber with "ECCS" looks so cheap and tacky..
Duz360 use to cut that right off and put a full tube in there with a bend at the front to face the TB in the right direction not at the front of the car.. and the bonnet starts to dip fast there.. would like to see a desent sided TB on that and not hit the bonnet.

The letters "eccs" is retained to keep its "standard inlet" look, so your plenum isnt another thing you get defected for. Designed for standard throttle body.

turbo ones have the plenum on more of an angle towards the headlight, and the first plenum retaining bolt is welded up, redrilled and tapped, and gets bolted to the runners from the bottom up. Anyone who has a turbo plenum to look at will be able to see why this is needed.

01-11-10, 10:27 GMT+10#12 have they been flow tested to see if they flow evenly or run lean on some runners like the factory ones do?
or are we just welding a t/b to the front and hoping for more power?

02-11-10, 19:09 GMT+10#16 only said i was told. and did put a ? at the end for a reason. just apparently one of me mate's friends bought one fitted it all up, went to shut the bonnet and it hit so he had to modify it. never saw for myself only what i was told mate.

03-11-10, 08:30 GMT+10#17 Cookie you have hit the nail on the head with your question.
2 things. Some companys advertise these huge a$$ plenums claiming they flow all these stupid amounts of air, and then they wonder why:
1) the car takes years to get onto boost
2) cylinders lean out and engines go bang.
In all cases. a person always gets what they pay for. Sure some items are worth big bucks - maybe because they have a brand name, but lets not forget the costs of R&D to ensure these are proven items, not just cos it works for my cousin larry's sisters brothers friend who is running 9's on pump fuel in streem trim.
I have too many times seen good friends buy plenums which look good on the outside, but lean out cylinders, are poorly welded inside and cost 10 times more in the end in selling it, and rebuilding a engine.
Not talking about this guys product as I know nothing about it - its a generalisation.

04-11-10, 19:52 GMT+10#18 So true-As above
i have even heard that modifying ur stock plenum over a $$$ one u can end up with more torque as they arnt having to suck in so much air etc etc - but i guess it all ends up depending on your set up
