According to the Holden v8 Rebuild and hotrod book, there was one VH with a 5.8 355, and a few VK Directors, that had the 5.6/5.7 and IRS.
However i dont recall seeing them make one in a VL, although it is well possible

all wagons, HDT or not should be banished to NZ or tazzy..
im not into V8s at all but a VH SLE with a factory 5.8L.. would have been a killer combo in its day!

I thought all the VL directors were stroked? And didn't only one of them cop the IRS rear end?

12-03-10, 12:40 GMT+10#10 HDT did a 346ci (5.6) stroker, available in the VL, only a handfull were built, commodorenut's HDT wagon has one. Maybe a couple of the directors copped one aswell.
I think theres also a handfull of 5.8L VH's.

14-03-10, 18:34 GMT+10#12 HDT called it a 5.6 back then but he used a few 6.0 stickers on a few to confuse things, download this and enlarge it for a read if you want.

14-03-10, 21:52 GMT+10#13 The 5.6L stroker package was available accross quite a few models in the VL range (Director, Sport, Calais Wagon, Bathurst, Group 3 etc) and a couple of late build earlier models like WB's that got them as well.
The 6.0L package was never advertised but did appear in a few cars. Have heard of 1 VK and two VL's with this option. Usually very special cars ordered by people with the right contacts.

15-03-10, 17:55 GMT+10#14 Apparently it was a Harrop stroker crank and the cars were never ADR approved at the time, they were pretty much a back door special.
