Hey guys, i heard an alarming noise today when stopped and starting to reverse while also starting to turn, apon turning the wheel a bit i heard a loud noise that sounded like someone pushed a heavy steel crate along a concrete floor of a warehouse, it wasnt ear pearcingly loud, but loud enough to know its not normal, i tried stopping and repeating the action, and it happened again. This being said, the steering didnt feel any different, and i reveresed as i wished. is something wrong with my steering rack? or what could be causing this noise?

that sounds like mine did a few weeks ago, one of my hoses was leaking an the powersteering lines lost pressure, there was a loud noise(almost like you described) at full turn, after i replaced the hose an the leak stoped, an let it run the noise has stoped, so id say search around for a leaking hose, also check the steering pump for signs of a leak, loose fitting ect

You sure it's not the power steering belt slipping?

might be? but it isnt a squeak, its a rather harsh sound. there was no power steering fluid on the ground under my car... anywere i park, so i dont think theres a leak in the lines?

could be a few things, pop the bonnet and get someone to 'dry steer' your car while you check around for noises.
