im sure if they add up all fines they hand out last nite they could come up with old factory or sumthing to cut loops on. n charge 1 dollar to watch n free to enter n make a killing. bcoz if i could go out n do burnouts n not have to keep looking in rear vision mirrior id deffently go

I thought Drag tag was just burnouts and that simulator
I know its run by Peter Gray, I saw him the other day. I think I should speak to him and find out what stoped him putting on a bigger show.

09-03-10, 19:10 GMT+10#11 it is when you have 200+ pedestrians dancing around your car..fair enough its at their own risk but its not the point, what about the affect on families etc when something does go wrong its to late, its all fun and games till someone gets hurt/killed then everyone jumps on the oh so sorry for the families RIP etc yet the same people are the ones doing the same stupid **** still, all for a couple of vn v6 single peggers bouncing off the limiter..
and then to jump in front of a camera on the news and carry on like a 12 year old kid gives the whole scene a great image dead set idiots....grow up
and you wonder why you cant drive a modified car around without a jar of lube and a briefcase for your fine collection, theres your reasons.
dragtag was closed to concentrate their business elsewhere, aka they found a better money maker, it was good while it lasted but still didnt have a 1/4 mile i mean who wants to strap there car to a dyno and thrash **** out of it like a computer game get realistic.

09-03-10, 19:13 GMT+10#13 Factorys are not a good idea on a large scale. Public liability is right out the window there. It is alright for between friends.
Big event are expensive to set up and very involved.
I would pay $150 plus a month for a nats type event.

09-03-10, 19:16 GMT+10#14 $150 a month is a fair ask for half these people that are at these street events, half of them clearly cant even afford to get out to calder park or heathcote which in all honesty if you love the sport that much is not that much of a travel compared to the adelaide guys etc that come over here, and when they do attend they whinge about entry fee's etc welcome to the real world insurance/running costs are a bitch and we pay for it **** happens and get over it.
most people know i use to be a regular at these northern sub events back in the days but i wont go anywhere near the things these days, wayy to overcrowded, underpowered and overexcited heroes, and the risks just arent worthit legally and morally.

09-03-10, 19:21 GMT+10#15 i would enter for 150bukz for hole day at calder mayb could hire track out or sumthing n just go nuts. but the people at street events wouldnt enter becoz there cars cost that much n there not scared to bang them up alil.
but y cant u just buy an old factory with plenty of room n just go for it like a skid pan n have sign enter at own risk.

09-03-10, 19:23 GMT+10#16 Back in the days when I got my licence the outer eastern suburbs were a Fast and furious scene friday night {movie lame} all has changed now. We need events just one person can not go it alone and me personal would not know where to start.

Public liability...... and the laws surrounding this type of behaviour.
To set up a event you need to tread extreamly carefully.
We need a motor sport face ie. Peter Gray and a place "good mate Bob Jane" bang we have a event. Not this easy but the theme/idea is there.

if it was that easy it would be done..
public liability.....look into it....
yep its all good to do it between you and mates if you want (within noise/pollution requirements on the area you build) but lets face it when something goes wrong, you will more than likely find out who your real mates are...the ones that dont sue you for everything you have.

09-03-10, 19:28 GMT+10#19 I'll let this thread continue if it's kept on topic and not promoting street racing.
The reality is that it wont ever completely stop. There will always be tools going to it, generally 18-21 year olds to do skids in front of their mates. Unfortunately 300 people turn up, stand right next to the car and then the guy with no experience runs everyone over and kills them.
Most people have been to them on here but most have grown out of it too and realised how dangerous it is and also how much trouble they can get in to. I remember back in the Dandy days where the police did 6 months of surveilance and then hammered everyone for everything - it's not worth it.
There needs to be more events and that is why everyone is campaigning for a new track. Support easternats, support all of your local shows. Don't leave them ripping it up and giving everyone a bad image.
Keep it on topic guys.

Very poor form from Victoria Police aren't they meant to protect the public from danger or is potential revenue raising a higher priority than public safety?
ill agree with this also piss poor effort from the police if it was under surveillance for that long, but its not the first time they have done it, they intervene on many occasions in between u know how it works everyone scatters to the next location and go again, they want to figure out how things work and hit people hard to try and get maximum affect, and revenue for the xmas party. **** happens we wont turn it into a cop slaying argument i hate the pricks just as much as anyone.
