Once i moved to Townsville i was bored and needed a Daily driver so i could stop putting KM's om my new VE and found what looked to be a 88 SL Turbo. The day i picked it up the work began as i had plans on giving it a new paint job and getting rig of the horrible ebay turbo that was on it. After getting it home and checking the VIN numbers it turns out that it is a turbo S2 calais according to the compliance plates so i ring the guy i bought it off and he said i had a fire in inside the car and he couldnt afford to replace the interior so he transplanted a interior from a SL and the nosecone and bumper had been replaced with a standard front after having an uninsured accident.
This i found very suss so i contacted police and transport and they confirmed it to a certain degree.
After confirming through the logbooks and recepts that were in the glovebox it was origionally a calais so the saga of bringing it back to origional spec has begun.

Rust is all fixed up and the shell is primed ready for some paint. Had to replace lower radiator support as it was bent from a previous smash. Explains the new bumper, bonnet and nose cone that were fitted.

Gave the shell a nice coat of alpine white. Main wiring loom and fuse box also installed. Installed radiator and nose cone to make sure everything fits correctly as it has had a few hits.

Engine and MX7 box now installed and running. VS brake booster/VT Master now installed also. Fuse box is a mess after having some bad electrical issues with CAS and a few other things. Still have to repaint rocker cover.

Just an update on how the beast is going, Eventually got it registered after much stuffing around and issues with the manual box. Drove it around for 12 months and had it back off the road again for some more upgrades.
I was having issues with the motor, It was chewing alot of fuel and just being a pain in the arse in general so put it on the dyno, Did 126rwkw with really bad piston slap and blow by so i decided to put it off the road for a while while i sorted the engine and got a new turbo.

During the past 6 months it has been off the road I have installed a brand new genuine set of FE2 springs, new shocks, all bushes replaced and sourced a set of VY SS 17" rims.
Motor has been bored out 20 thou with hypatec pistons, new oil pump, head rebuilt with 3 way valve grind, block decked and new injectors.
Installed a brand new Aircon system and managed to get cruise control and all electric windows working.

Car is still at the exhaust shop getting the exhaust and cooler done. Had a few problems getting the GT30 to fit also.
