hey all long story short i have a mate who owes me some $$$$ and i can take his old gen3 motor from his vx ss.the reason is it already has some good work done to it and would seriously save me lots of $$$$ just droping his motor in insted of me doing all the work to my motor. now what i want to know is will it drop strait into my vt 11 r8 withouht any dramas?are wiring looms the same and will it plug strait up?or are there any dramas i mite run into? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

from doing a quick search it looks like the wiring looms will plug in. Not much info on the net with that kinda thing though... try justcommodore.com or LS1forums

VT GEN 3 series one has different inlet manifold and different injectors to a VX. The Factory PCM Calibration is Different too. There are other minor differences but they wont have a drastic effect on how the vehicle runs.

Thats where you come in Piece of piss for someone with tuning software. Otherwise its a bit of a pointless swap personally if you have to pay for a tune, do the engine swap etc etc. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I would agree with you there, some mail order (ebay) stuff and some well known stuff is rubbish. Atleast with the well known guys you can complain a they can tidy it up for you. My Old man got a Delco mail order and it was pretty close, but then again a bolt-on car is a bolt on car. I would hate to do a head a cam package mail order and as for FI forget it.

another differance u might find is on your vt the air intake temp sensor is in the airbox. on the vx, if its series 2 it will be in the air intake pipe. u will either have to change the sensor or extend the loom. (plugs are the same but the sensors are different)
