It's a little more difficult than that. Your manifold wont fit, nor will your extractors. Use the tech article of how to put an injected motor in your VL as a guide, even if you are converting to carby. Otherwise find another black 308 and drop it in.

i have a 3 speed in mine already, was told that the motor would be find on it as they are both Black motors, im takin the EFI off coz i dont have the money to get an auto elec out to wire it, nor have money to get someone to do it. but now im not sure how much work is in it to change these motors over , will the mounts need to be moved? iv had a look in the other topic, but i get lost, pretty much just want to know what will have to be changed so i know how much ill be up for to get it all put in.

The EFI motor is different to the 308 black motor. Manifold will not fit and extractors are different.

(different stud patterns so to speak) even the auto bellhousings are different patterns.. so your up ****creek.. A, save up and rebuild yours, or pay someone to put in the efi motor and tranny.. B, give up sell it..

as has been mentioned-transmission won't bolt up your extractors and manifold won't bolt up to the EFI 304. You will be better off putting in the complete EFI motor/gearbox setup and getting it wired up. If you can't afford that, then you can't afford new intake/exhaust manifolds anyway.

as the other's have said keep it efi the vs 304 will put has about 40kw more than a stock 308 aren't the vl v8 motors 4.9L 304s anyway not 308?

vl v8 are 304's too.. therefore the older (pre vl) engines have more cubic inches..
