Hey everyone,
I was wondering how many people on here have a 308 and what sort of fuel consumption they get out of it?
Mines pretty much stock... just has front pipes, cam, lifters and thats about it that i know of... and i only get 200-250km out of a whole tank driving like a granny.
I was expecting it to be drinking a bit of fuel but not quite that much.
Cheers,
Nik

What cam do you have?
What carby is on it? Has it been serviced lately (the carby, not the motor)
My VL gets about half of that, but it has a 750dp, decent cam, 5k converter etc.

My VL is stock apart from headers and aftermarket air cleaner. When it was running (hyopefully it will be again soon) I was getting between 250 and 300 k's from a tank, depending how I drove it.
If I can spare the extra when it's time to rebuild the motor I'm thinking of going straight gas.

Get about 250/300 a tank, carby needs a rebuild though,

Forgot to mention I reckon my fuel sender is cactus. When the gauge says it's empty it only takes about 40L to fill so I could go further but not prepared to test it. I'm in the middle of replacing the manifold as the original was corroded beyond fixing, so it'll be up for a tune once it's running again. Was told carb is in good order last time it was tuned and it's done about 1500k's since.

That's not good for a car that produces less than 100rwkw

thats pretty bad economy. if i baby it around i can get over 200kms from my 300rwkw holden v8 that has about every mod possible. lol

My old black 308 used to get around 250k's to a full tank. It made 125rwkw.
They're not the fastest but they have loads of torque. If youre running the stock carby they're awesome for cruising due to the small primaries but drink it if you're giving it a poke.

19-02-10, 18:55 GMT+10#11 How long since your carbys have been overhauled? Not to mention most VL V8 are restricted to a trimatic when a manual might get lower revs from a daily drive, to get good economy you have to have good plugs, leads, air cleaner, slightly advanced timing and run extractors.

19-02-10, 21:19 GMT+10#13 my gfs vk 308 would be lucky to get 300km. Has a new carby, stock as rock engine with a worn cam, extractors and slighty advanced timing. I too tought they'd be better, engine had a few new gaskets run through it too (inlet, exhaust, timing case, new water pump)
