Gday,
Im Trying to get some info on some engines that may be out there..
If anyone has a Holden stroker (355) with walky twin throttle body manifold, can you please post up some specs and power figures?
Im about to build one and just wondering what injectors, computer and engine components (heads and cam) they may be using....
Also heaps keen on the engine hp readings...
thanks
Pretty sure Nathan Wells VK group A made a solid 430rwhp years ago with one of these setups completely NA running pump fuel. There are two cars for sale on car sales with VN group A manifolds atm for under 20k aswell.
U cant base your build on the manifold alone, eg your cam specs arent dependant on the manifold. Decide what fuel you want to use as that will limit your compression, and from there you can decide what cam it will use.. this will also determine how hard you want to rev the thing. A good mate ran a 288 soild using just 304ci with 10.5:1 comp and a motec twin throttle manifold, it made around 200rwkw but would stall and over fuel constantly it was also a manual... getting the combo right requires the advice of some good engine builders. If Sir5.7 (Branko) is still around on here he might be worth hitting up, his built more than a few tough NA strokers in his day, otherwise STOLEN also has a very strong na v8 and is very approachable
11:1 on a holden 5ltr would be pushing the limits of pump fuel i recon, and if your using a walkinshaw manifold the only way you can go carby is by going gas.
Matt (ProVK) ran a 11.7 @ 114 with his old N/A Walkie Intake setup on his VK Calais.
Crankies Cast Crank, Scat H Beams, TWR Forgies, 9.7:1 comp, C.O.M.E. 2000 Series Alloy Head and a small 237@50 Solid Cam (C.O.M.E. CLS-130), 60ft's where only in the 1.70's with 26x8 Slicks (old ones), 3.9 Diff Gears, 1-5/8 Tri Y Genie Extractors. Made 300rwhp with a 4200rpm converter.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
hey mate check my thread that should help you mine is a vn ss 355 walky twin throttle body the bloke that built mine is a mate of mine Mick Brody all over utube pushing low 8s down at calder on pump fuel buisness name is Brody automotive racing engines noone builds them as good as he does, i can also give you specs if you want, and i can tell you what chip to use ive put everyone onto the chip, have a good read of my thread and it will tell you most of it, pm me and i will let you know the rest, will make 350+rwhp on injection and more on carby. i personlly went injection but its up to you what you want, but brody is the bloke to talk to 0260265833
I have a VL Calais with a VS GTSR 355 and walky twin throts, t56 six speed, 4.11 lsd, 205rwkw, 750nm. Really smooth and easy to drive, loads of torque.
If you want driveablity, go efi I say.
