can someone confirm this.. but i heard your allowed to drive a stock 5L on your P's.. AND! if there is a fully licensed passenger in your vehicle, you are allowed to drive anything..turbo, twin turbo..V8 or twin turbo V8..doesnt matter, providing your P's are up and theres a fully licensed passenger in the front
is this true ?

13-02-10, 09:56 GMT+10#12 what your friend is referring to in regards of having a full licensed driver next to you is passenger restrictions. If you are on red p's by law you can only carry one peer passenger, if there is a fully licensed driver next 2 you you can have as many peer passengers as you want.
all the info is here- http://www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au.

take the time to click that link and read about what can and can't be "exempted" and what is and what isn't classified as a "lower performance turbo or supercharged vehicle"
why are these threads constantly popping up when all of the information is on vicroads...
question answered, all the information about the power to weight is on that page aswell ffs
EDIT: I'll even copy and paste it
From 6 July 2009, drivers issued with a probationary licence on or after 1 July 2007 may drive some lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicles. The definition of a lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicle is a vehicle with 6 cylinders or less that is;
* turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne;
* turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that is considered to be a family type vehicle (4 seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle. A family type vehicle is a sedan, station wagon or hatch normally used to carry families/passengers with 4 or more seats and are equipped with child restraint anchorages. A family type vehicle does not include a sports car (two door coupe).

20-02-10, 19:25 GMT+10#18 VLCT does not pass as a Legal Car to drive on your P's no matter what you say/do/try Its 6 Cylinder its 3Litres its Turbo.
Also no way you could get a Skyline exempt its still 2L turbo, its not just over the Power to Weight law but its Turbo which your not meant to have.
Just get a non turbo they are still alot of fun then just bolt a turbo on to it down the track RB20DE+T still can make nice power

25-02-10, 06:16 GMT+10#19 ^ i dont see why a vlct shouldn't pass its between 100 and 125kw and has 4 doors? IF its factory.
That's clearly within there guidelines mate...
My previous post is stright off the vicroads site, no bullshit, enough with these heroes who think they know it all, simply go on vicroads and read and understand what THE LAW states
