its a 6V71 detroit diesel motor out of a truck and a 9speed roadranger with about 240hp but heaps of torque so i'd be picking start off in maybe top gear burnout yes they are 2 stroke love to rev allday you might be more familiar with the 671 or 871 super charger that the v8 boys like to bolt on top of their motors, the motors come inline aswell, this one is a vee 6 so thats the class well be entering ,the beauty of the detroit motors is that you can just keep bolting them together end for end and you have a v12,v18,24,32,or buy a v8 and start bolting them together v16,v24,v32,or buy a v12 and start bolting together,my old truck i drove had a 6v92t silver rated at about 350hp but in a boat they tuned them usual around 5-600hp

sure can,i used to cart bales of wool to Wiri ,parked outside and took off all my straps and covers then drove inside the store, being on level floor i thought it be ok just to leave the truck in low gear which happened to be reverse, any how those forklift drives are nuts they come from all sort of directions 4,5 6 at atime hooning around drifting just amaizing to watch, they come screaming up to the truck and trailer and just before you think they'll smash into you they slap it reverse nail it drop the bale grabs and pick up 4 bales at a time, turn real sharp doing a 180 and off they go.anyway this day was a little of a wet day which makes the concrete floor wet and slipery a forklift drive got it abit wrong and bumped into the back of my trailer i was outside rolling up my straps and covers when i here the foreman yelling out your truck your truck,i look up and my truck was chugging down the rows through the store with the exhaust smoke coming out of the air scoop above the cab roof, ihad to race after it and kill it ,motor running backwards does'nt have any oil pressure but all was ok PS the detroits can be made to run counter clockwise by fitting one of the idler timing gears on the other side of,or left or right side of the crank centre line, designed like that for twin engine twin drive boat props to help keep it drive straight

started putting the cab on today run into a few problems but pretty much sorted it,cab ended up 600mm back from its original position to clear the air compressor which we need for the clutch and gearbox to work and had to lift it 260mm up higher to clear the gearbox, looks ugly as but it'll be cool all the same will make up some panels to fill in the gaps steam cleaned it tonight and will paint the chasis black and the motor detroit green

Well,we sorted most of the problems as the weekend came ever so close, gave it a quick paint job also during the week, friday was test day grant(owner/workmate)tried to take it for a spin, clutch was suck to the flywheel but eventually broke loose, brakes were hard as because being a truck motor had no vacuum for the booster and we did'nt have a spare alternator from a diesel car or ute so just went with it,diff needed to be welded and then when test burnout time came found the clutch slipped in any gear above 4th(low range)out of a 9speed so by then we had no choice to loaded it up a head to dargaville as is,thanks goes out to Wharehine Contractors for some sponsership,BNT for oil and Powerbuilt tools Doidges tyres enjoy
