hey everyone just wondering if this is a common problem that people have had with their vl, i never have before but with my currrent calais the hazzards blink real fast. indicators work fine and all that. i have replaced the indicator stalk and hazzards loom that joins just under the collum. and its still the same. any ideas ?

usually fast flashing of indicators means a globe is out double check that again and if o.k. consider replacing your flasher can

have replaced globes since owning the car and it has always done it. indicators work fine and at normal speed, just the hazards. will maybe try the flasher can but wouldnt you think that the indicators would play up then to.. ?

yeah it does it with my horn connected or not whys that ?? or though i havnt tried it with my horn connected since i replaced the indicator stalk and hazards loom. coz i havnt put the steering wheel back on yet. its weird if i play with the hazzards switch push it all the way in or pull it back out a little not the whole way it changes the speed but never goes down to near where it should be just fast then really fast. also when i put the hazards on it takes a few seconds for them to start then the first flash isnt to bad then goes fast from then on

You have probably put the connecting wires in wrong. When I replaced my indicator stalk a wire was earthing out causing the indicators to go nuts and the horn to sound.

oh ok i replaced the whole lot so the only wires i touched was the 2 plugs under the dash. my horn is connected at the horn it self so it would be going off if that was the problem but i will check it out tomorrow ok went and had a bit more of a play tonight, replaced all globes just to see. and no difference. looked at the wiring near the steering wheel and nothing seemed to earthing out or anything like that. can someone tell me though when you turn the hazzards on do they click like they do when you have an indicator on ? coz mine dont make any noise when hazzards are put on.

thought i would check out the holden workshop manual about this going throught the specification section for lights it lists two flasher units one for the turn signal and one for the hazard warning but on the wiring digrams it only has one flasher relay. did you replace the plastic relay looking one or the metal can looking one or both? the only thing that causes the fasher to flash faster is if there isn't the right amount off ristance in the circuit eg bulb is blown. might just be that there isn't enought ristance in the circuit. i don't know how you would go about doing this sorry.
