Well this is my car. im not sure whether it should be in this section or the N/A section. but oh well. this makes it seem cooler My car is an Original Vl Sl Turbo. Which had to be converted to N/A DUE to completly stupid QLD P plate laws which say no Turbo and nothing over 200Hp. Thats why i call it an Original Turbo hahahaha. ATM its a RB30 with pacemaker extractors and 3 inch straight through exhaust which makes it WAY to loud. The car also still has the frount mount cooler on it just to draw attention from certain ppl . Everything else on the car is standard VLT. It is sitting on 15 by 7 inch rims in cheap tyres. Sitting at about 110mm off the ground at the lowest point Kenwood head unit. 2 option audio 6 by 9s. option audio amp powering my mates 2 12" pioneer subs. 2 3" fronts. This one was one of the very first put through the Factory. It was built the month before they where released properly. I cant remember the dates. . Sorry if the photos dont work. im new to this and the car really needs a clean. Actually i cant figure out how to attach photos haha. so when i figure that out or someone tells me il put some up . Any ideas for what you all reckon APART from putting the turbo straight back in HAHA would be welcome . Any engine/turbo combos would be welcome. AND IM SORRY ABOUT RUINING A VLT BY MAKING IT N/A. looks alright. i'd take the cooler off and the 3" and replace them with a 2.5 or 2 1/4" and just a standard n/a crossover. you will gget less police hassle and TBH most vl guys will think you are a wanker with a cooler on an n/a if they don't know it started life as a turbo. has it been resprayed? i ask because sl's weren't supposed to have the blackout around the window but being an early build plated car who really knows? i'd put some badges back on and do the bumpers in mx grey. a good cut and polish should get the paint looking decent as its a flat colour. catch! - Mitch

Thanks ...Yeah. i dont think any part has been reasprayed apart from the front bumper because the car was attempted at getting stolen and the guys who stole it smashed the front bar and chucked a heap of VL parts in the back seat so the back seats a lil stained from random things. I tried to get a smaller exhaust but couldnt find one when i was going to roadworthy it, im still looking out but it has a nice idle sound to it. . im thinking about taking off the cooler but if i just dont floor it anywhere nobody can tell haha. And with the paint we are pretty sure the car came with a formula pack option or so which is why all the bumpers are the same and its got the lil rubber wing on the back. Il give the car a good clean because its a bit dirty atm. been raining and living out of town mean bad looks for any car. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah everything mitch say is absolutely spot on i love white/mx bumpers on sl/berlina's i reckon they look sweeet! you said it came with the little rubber wing on the back? what the hell? i dont think ive ever seen one? :S

umm you know how the boot has like a lil flick upwards part...... its like a lil extra lip thing that attaches to it. i reckon it looks alrite with it. makes the car look like it sits flatter and lower. don't forget to do the grille in MX grey too plus rear garnish if it isn't already

grille looks fine either white or grey.or is it just berlinas that come with the grille white?

could be a formula with the rubber lip? In my opinion, completely rebadge the car after its been sprayed, amd id honestly leave it all white, something about monotone cars are tuff

As far as me or the ppl before me know it hasnt been resprayed at all..... for the last while ive noticed the smell of oil inside if the car is left shut up over night. so me and dad tried to find the problem and we found a hose not connected properly so we are hoping thats it. Also pulled everything out of the boot and tried to clean a lil bit of rust up in the spare tyre well. Also had to reset how the amp and subs where going. Did Vl turbos come standard with a LSD. because i didnt think they did but when i spun one wheel they both spun the same way. that means its a LSD doesnt it? But when the wheels are for no reason at all spinning, 50/50 one wheel or both wheels. Also i am in need of new rear tyres. i duno why. Well i hate life. i just typed up a big thing. and lost it. and i cant even remember what i typed ey. Something about.... Had to check the gearbox. Weird oil smell coming into the inside when the windows are wound up. Hope we fixed the problem by fixing a hose that we think was on a breather pipe..... Also did Vl turbos come out with a LSD. because both my wheels turn when i spin one. But i was told it wasnt an LSD. And also when the tyres are spinning on the spot its 50/50 that one wheel or both will spin. Also need new tyres. very weird phenomenon. Also tried t fix some rust up in the boot. Getting ready slowly for the panel beaters to do a great job which they better Also had to retune stereo. mates played with the amp and everything. *******s lol. Also as far as we know the car has never been resprayed so the black around the windows must have came from the factory? We think the car is completly factory apart from the few lil mods. Well i need a new front bar. New right hand headlight. new nose cone. and the lil white strip for the right hand side that sits above the front bar. haha. Dont let mates reverse ur car because they dont see the pole in front of them haha. Atleast i still need the whole body work fixed up. I have my turbo engine back finally. been sitting at a mates house for ages... Been cleaning out and taking some things off it..... Going to maybe pull it apart and then start putting it back together with some good parts.... duno what but yet. Turns out Cops in Twmba are targeting my car.... hahaha apparently it has a very distinguished shape that they decide to completly turn around and follow a lot.

hey buddy. if the rear bobtail is a rubber composite then that indicates it is a formula. the lips are so rare that its unlikely a formula lip was added on lkater in life. an le lip yes but not formula. the formula's colour coding extended to garnish, taillights, mirrors and the bumpers and moulds. it really is strange to see an sl with the blackouts but as you will learn reading around here its almost impossible to tell wtf the factory was doing back then due to lack of records and lots of special order or dealership modified cars. how are you going with the exhaust? if you go smaller you will actually feel a power gain, the 3" won't be restrictive enough and will take some torque out of the car. anywho get pics up! oh also. as for the lsd check the tech article area. there is a thread on diff tags. get under your car and there will be a tag on your diff (if it hasn't been lost) this will tell you what centre / axles / gears you have. good things to know. as for cops i hate to say i told ya so, vls are copbait. lose the cooler quick. on p-plates with a cooler the officer will have a predisposition that you are breaking the law before he even pulls you over which in turn causes attitude problems.

Thanks for the interest in my car haha. Actually only one cop has asked me about driving a turbo. and that cop had been stopping some of my other mates jsut to check out there cars cuz they all have nice as cars. so none of the cops have really noticed the turbo badge or anything. i got done for hooning (not my fault btw haha)... he still didnt ask me if i had a turbo..... haha. Yeah. i havnt done anything with the exhaust yet been paying for a lot of things lately but its on the list of things to do along with paint and rims. Paint should be happening soon. hopefully il have the money haha no recent pics because its weird having a grey front bumper on a white car. haha. stupid mate cant drive haha. plus its in need of a clean because its been raining a fair bit near me. there are tags on my diff but there all to dirty to read and i couldnt clean it off when i was under there. but apparently its an lsd. it just must need to be retightened or something. Well got a new diff. put it in. all good ... Took it to the mechanic today to get a wheel alignment.... as im walking to my dads car he comes running out. and asks how much i wana spend on it.... and ive just thought oh ****.... whats wrong with it... haha Turns out the steering system is compltely rooted. he reckons any corner atm could take the steering completly out and make me drive straight forevre.... so yeah. looking forward to that... Also for some weird reason. i have a kinked handbrake cable.... so thats why thats not working... Oh well... im getting it back tomorrow. then mounting my new amp finally .
