Hey guys,
basically Im selling my VL SL as I wanted to upgrade.
Everyone including my parents keep telling me not to stick with the old cars, ie; VLs. But something about them keeps me hooked.
I have two options and I want to ask you blokes who have been through the situation or what they would do in this situation.
Either a Gold w/ red interior VLC on gas for 2.7k, with reg n roady. fair clean.
or
a newer type car. around 5-8g mark. Most likely a VT Calais. pref on gas
I only get my liscence back in March 29 so I will have time with it.
I need advice on what you would do in this situation.

Why not spend 8k on a VLCT?

I faced the same dilemma a year ago, mind you I was looking at spending a bit more...but was tossing up between a later model gen3 commodore or a very nice modded VL Turbo...
I ended up with a VX Calais V8, and I love it.
I miss driving a VL, but as I only want one car at the moment, the reliability and comfort of a new car wins every time.
I'l get another VL down the track when I've got somewhere to store it and keep it safe

I would LOVE a newer car, maybe a WRX or simillar to get around in, something with a good mix of comfort, reliability and power but, I just can't bring myself to sell My VLs. I love them!

Personally, I have my VLT, but I also have my BA Ute. I needed a good, reliable, everyday work vehicle, and the VL didnt cut it, lol.
But the VL is way more fun to drive.

25-12-09, 17:11 GMT+10#12 It's only dying because everything has been done to death and it's getting boring. There are 10sec vls everywhere you look with identical setups and it's not exciting. I miss the days when a 10sec vl was something to look up to
Ps. Sabo what did you run at the track?
Making some decent power now mate!

25-12-09, 19:04 GMT+10#16 Get a newer car. You'll get something with lower kays, fully optioned with all of the luxury items, itll be more reliable and much better to drive!
New car.
You can pick up nice VR / VS caprice's for around $7000-8000 which is great value for money.

VR/VS caprice - arent they pretty heavy for what they are? Do they gurgle alot of fuel?

25-12-09, 20:46 GMT+10#20 Honeastly id go with the one you feel more comfortable around/in and the one you know more about......... heaps easier if something happens to it or goes wrong. chances are if u pick the car you are more familiar with it will save you more money in the long run.
My mates and parents were the same bro, but i chocse to stick to the cars i know more about and how they drive and ****.
At the end of the day its yourself that has to drive the car not ur mates or your parents so bro get what u feel is best for you.
But all the best in picking the car.
