Hi ppl
just wondering if anyone on here has a side mount super charged vl??? or if you can get them for a vl??
reason being my brother picked up a vl, 5spd with a side mount super charger on it.. dont know what brand, no intercooler. kicks in at around 1500rpm (so he says) ,Im gonna drive it and see for my self.
I'll try get some pics up when I go over there next.
he's cleaning it up to sell it as he has lost his license.
whats something like that worth.
has chasers, 6 mths rego, clean interior, (berlina I think not 100%) ,lowered, paint is blue in colour (not original) looks not that old, not sure of k's, but will find out.

from memory Cas rod shop did a rb30 supercharger kit. Waste of money if you ask me, using a toyota supercharger found on the levin(?) motor. good down low, but would probably run out of puff up top.

that probs took alot of money, effort, and time. Ill that should have been spent on a decent turbo setup, for half the price and the same if not more power. But each to their own

Stocky Mc Stock still has his turbo and charged VL last i checked as it didn't sell.
I remember many moons ago a dude rocking up at a beach party in Mandurah with a white 5spd vl with a toyota charger... wouldn't even bag 2nd.

lol 2k to take an 80kw car to 110kw? get off! could have a turbo running 12psi for ~1200 that would surely pull much more than 110rwkw!

18-12-09, 12:37 GMT+10#12 thats a bit different though, that wasnt just a bolt on charger, he has a 35/40 being fed by a supercharger, and he made all the manifolds himself... anyone who can make their own manifolds/pipe will find their build is much cheaper compared to someone who cant

19-12-09, 00:58 GMT+10#13 well as already said i used to have the same setup but on an auto i did it for something different but i also put in a cam to suit with a full exhaust had it running 9psi and pulled 220rwhp with no cooler and had the best sound ever i spent around 5k and went from a 17 sec pass to 14.5 probly not worth all the teething problems i had but it was one tuff fun car and i would love to do it all over again knowing what i know now i still mite in the years to come.
so i would say if ur willing to stick with it do it and if u ever need a hand let me know would love to see another one gettin around.

19-12-09, 08:53 GMT+10#14 i had one of these on a 202 with a supra 5speed .it came with a low and high boost pulley. I only ever drove the car on low boost (8psi)and it was a **** load quicker than my 5lt ute that ran 14.9 . But i wouldnt put one on a vl when there is so many turbo options.

always running high temps, lifters always flogin out, auto couldnt cope with the boost, started shredding blower belts, nothing too bad just things i know now could have helped like next time i will go with a small cooler probly run water injection use a manuel box just change a few things to make it more realiable.
still an awesome combo bit on the pricey side yeah but hey thats all vls in general anyway.
