hi mate ive recently done this myself, but can only find some of the info for ya!
on the Grey plug with 8 pins the wires are as follows;
Blue/White - Fan control relay
Blue - Oil Sender, for warning light
Green - Water Temp Sender
Brown - Brown at DFI module (brown directly next to Green wire)
Brown - AC, connects to B8 on ECU
Green/Black - Tacho feed
one wire differs from what you have posted, and that is '2nd row bottom' on my loom it is White/Yellow and thats for AC Relay Control. it may just be that my loom was from a VP ?
also these drawings are pretty crap, but if your ok with electrics you should be able to follow them.

If your a memeber of StreetCommodores, PM ProVK, he helped me out heaps with the ecu wiring.
Hope that helps!!
also from memory, the wires on the black plug are;
Purple - Fuel Pump Relay
Red - 12V+
Red/Black - 12V+
Green/White - Fuel pump control relay
Orange - Ignition Relay
but dont hold me to that :P

01-01-10, 18:31 GMT+10#10 i only wired 3 wires up and it started.(but ran ****)and fowled plugs.
and only 2 were on the black plug.
i couldnt get the original fuel pump earth that runs to comp to work so used my old seperate relay that was for the carby motor.
at the moment im stuck on the engine light wire i cant find it.
was told it was brown/white but didnt work
any ideas???
and will any light work such as a test lamp etc or do you have to have a special light like in the original dash
Arronvl
you must be running a later model engine then a vn cause i only have 3 square plugs like above
injectors
coollent temp sensor
alternator
and i dont think its was any of them cause the wires are different colours

01-01-10, 21:03 GMT+10#11 the loom i took out of a hsv enhanced berlina. The engine was replaced through insurance, it ois a roller block. im thinking it may be the alternatoras thats the only accessory i didnt come accross.
in regards to the check engine light it comes out pin A5 on the ecu plug, i found some wire colors vary also
Can i use a 6cyl calais dash in mine now that is a v8?

i used my original wires for volts, watertemp, taco,

all the reds work as normal appart from engine light that i want to hook up.(somwhere)

mine was a factory v8 so no stock trans comp
didnt think the vl 6 has a trans comp just something to go into overdrive
and i dont think the vn had 1 either i thought the trans comps started with the vr or vs but could be wrong.
i know something is needed to go into overdrive on the vn auto some people say you need the speed sensor and other people say you dont but not sure.

ive been workin on and off my vl for the past 2 days now with wiring it up and still no luck.....
with the battery terminals and wiring etc did you just get rid of the vl setup and use a vn style loom for that?
ive wired what i had to from engine loom to the efi relay, fuel pump relays witch is 4 wires now im stuck on the rest.....
the purple wire that conects to starter motor goes to ignition yeah?do i just run a new wire to ignition or tap into else where?im just bit confused as i have followed the info i had found on here and there nothing its dead lol
