Need advice on what to look out for when doing bottom end. At this stage l am thinking of going ahead with wiseco pistons and stronger rods. I am chasing 350rwkw + and l don't want the bottom end to stress at that amount of power. Things to look out for when building bottom end: Oil pump = should l be looking at upgrading that? Bottom end bearings? Pistons Conrods What else should l be looking at upgrading? thanks in advance!

Oil pump = You might wanna think about other oil pump, not to sure which one though. Bearings = Any big name brand will be good. ACL and King. Pistons = Proven 350rwkw stock from factory conrods = Proven 350rwkw stock from factory But you could always go with this package; SPOOL RB30 ( and RB30DET ) conrods and CP Forged Pistons $2050 (http://www.spoolimports.com/content/SPOOLCONRODANDPISTONPACAKGES.asp)

hmmm.... so pistons and conrods seems ok for 350rwkw. (l guess that is more in the tune)? Does that mean l should pay more attention to oil pump and bottom end bearings over pistons and rods?

The tune is everything regardless! Bottom end bearings, go for King Bearings. Oil Pump = I have no idea with those.

Could someone elaborate more on what oil pump to get? I think the oil pump gears have to be upgraded if l'm not wrong to compensate for more oil flow? On VLT's are the "bottom end bearings" more of a weaker link than the pistons and rods? Also thinking of getting ARP stud bolts with ACL MLS head gasket and new welsh plugs? What are peoples thoughts?

absolutely not, there kinda things you forget about, all you need to know is king pr acl and your fine, its not as technical as forged pistons or rods or cast or hypatec and so on. I would focus on a good piston and rod combo.

im going to be pushing for that power with standard bottom and headwork and cam, and im going to build a realy tuff motor on the side. I want to run a ten and i dont see the point in spending lots of money when i have a good low km turbo bottom end. with the oil pump as long as you have a genuine A8 bottom end it will have a 13mm gear set oil pump instead of the NA 10mm one the turbo oil pumps are fine for 350rwkw

yes l do have an a8 bottom end. l now am double minded, with the responses l have recieved it seems the stock a8 bottom end is more than capable of handling 350rwkw. Not sure but l might give it a go and see how it goes with the stock bottom end or should l just go & forge it? arrrrrrhhhh... so confused.

mate just for a refernce for u mkd.jet 10.4 (350+rwkw) waive 10.5? (350+rwkw) cgmfly 9.51 (350+ rwkw) all stock vlt bottom ends theres plenty more on this website also , even for arguement sake u see people buy $200 clapper n/a wrecker special bottom ends and doing 10s lol just becuase its forged doesnt mean its indestructable , yes it is better than a stock vlt bottom end , but yours with a good tune will last a long time

ive had so many mates spend over 10k on bottom ends and have nothing but drouble your motor might last 1 day or 5 years who knows but in my i opinion why pull down a motor that is running fine. Put all the same bolt ons you would put on a built block and build a motor on the side this way when the motor goes you just have to put your built motor in and your away again.

You must remember it all in the tune. A good aftermarket ecu and you'll be able to push those limits with ease.

That series 2 block that l will buy should be an A8 right?

No offence mate, but some of the questions you've asked lately have been covered in great depth within this forum. Please use the search function. Having said that, a good condition RB30ET bottom end will be fine for 350rwkw. As they say, it's all in the tune or it's all in the sump.

I had the engine built by power house engines whilst I was still driving around. When the engine was finished I swapped heads and whacked the engine in. Must make sure it's a series 2 engine.
