Hey
I did a quick search couldnt find what im after.
How much boost can you/i run through a standard external fuel pump running all standard turbo gear except intercooler?
Thanks

So your saying you have a intercooler? If you do maybe something like 10-12psi. It really depends on how you engine is tuned. Like a retarded(timing) engine will run better with more boost. If you thinking of running more boost I'd have it dyno tuned to make sure their no detonation, pinging or pre ignition involved. The best thing with a dyno tune is they can hear things you can't with dyno muffs. Because detonation pinging or pre ignition can be a motor destroying event. Plus the more fuel the better and you won't get that through 259cc injector.

Boost through a standard fuel pump??? Do you mean "how much boost can you run on a standard fuel pump???

the fuel pump isnt the smallest thing in a stock system, its the injectors thats the power restriction and then id say turbo before pump.

you would max out your standard injectors before you max out your fuel pump so unless your planning on upgrading your injectors and putting in a aftermarket ecu i wouldnt bother changing the pump now

Ok sweet, yep thats all i needed to know.
So then how much boost can i run until my injectors max out?

i was running 14psi with std turbo injectors and made 220rwkw and fuel was fat all the way.
Was running
-std turbo ecu
-044 external fuel pump
-std turbo injectors
-malpassi rising rate fuel pressure regulator

03-12-09, 13:37 GMT+10#10 just get a rising rate reg like skot has and bump up the pressure a bit if your worried but i wouldnt run 14psi without at least a reg

standard fuel pressure, twin standard pumps and a surg tank.

03-12-09, 16:57 GMT+10#12 Surge tank and twin pumps wont make it flow more fuel, The bottle neck is the injectors.

Are these any good?

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

03-12-09, 18:03 GMT+10#15 i wouldnt touch a cheap reg...
I had a decent branded malpassi reg and on the dyno it couldnt hold a steady pressure to save its life i was told... so i binned it.

03-12-09, 18:32 GMT+10#17 The Tuner said get a sard or stock VLT reg. As i had 660CC injectors on a wolf i didnt need to adjust the base pressure, went back too stock VLT reg..
Alot of people say VL and VLT regs are internally the same, The Tuner said he did back to back dyno tests and they are not. so i got a VLT reg of a mate for nothing and put it on.

07-12-09, 13:20 GMT+10#18 tmatty i dont know what ur tuner was on but u dnt need to do a dyno test to compare the regs just a simple fuel pressure test, the regs are internally the same.

07-12-09, 13:38 GMT+10#19 Reg's are exactly the same.
Also had the same trouble with a malpassi that wouldn't hold pressure steady.
Tuner wouldn't tune it without changing the reg. He hates them.
