can i ask how much you payed for the engine and box, did u get a half cut ?
im trying to sell my vl with an rb20 in it for 2 and a half, but cant seem to sell it, i paid 2200 for the halfcut alone, i thought it would have been a bargain. but obviously not.

Oh its just hard as the RB20 conversion gets a fair bit of slander as its performance can be somewhat lacking in a VL body.

Oh its the old adage of getting the VL turbo'ed cheap, but personally to make them work you need 4.11's in the diff, a higher than normal stall if its auto and a little extra boost to make them ok'ish. By the time you do that you may aswell of just converted a n/a motor properly and it would probably go round the RB20 easily. Still they like a rev and can be good fun so not all is lost.
Meh just an opinion, but then again I like my cubes above 400 so I may be biased.

You need to use all the VL manual stuff, tailshaft included.
They go ok for what they are but the lack of torque is noticable. The one I put in my old car to sell ran a 13.7 with only an intercooler and 3" exhaust. No boost controller fitted.
4.11 diff gears are a must

Yeah probably worth it. Still you could buy a working A8 for that kind of money. Probably even a turbo auto as well. Then all you need to worry about is turbo brakes which are common and a 28 spline diff and you would be laughing.
