Hey guys, well im 16 in january and i just bought my first car, so i dont even have my Ls yet! Im a first year auto electrician so its a bit hard funding everything but its coming along.. slowly Now about the car, i spotted the car on ebay and just had to have it, especially in the silverslate and madeira interior trim combo, which ive read is very rare. BUT, all good things do come to an end, when i took delivery of the car i checked the id tags to make sure it wasnt stolen etc, while i was at it i made sure it was the original trim and colour, the id tage says 2J013 which is asteroid silver and the code for silverslate is 2H016 and there is evidence of a respray as clips have been painted over etc. So im going to have it sprayed the original asteroid colour.. The body was in tip top shape with only minor spots of rust here and there and in the obvious places lyk around the front and rear window seals, which i was expecting. The boot is another story.. heres a picture of the boot when i first got it.. Then today afterwork i went down to supercheap and bought some rust convertor, methylated spirits and a wire brush. I got to work and this is how its come up after the first coat... ive done a little experiment in the boot in one panel where i dabbed some rust convertor and im going to leave it overnight to see what happens.. heres some pics of the rest of the car.. Im still chasing up a fair few parts like;a red calais steering wheel the left hand side door mould and left hand fender mould series 1 or series 2 door trims series 2 cluster 4 calais rims or vs caprice rims a standard calais/berlina radio (the digital display one) pop up lights motor I know these parts are like trying to find a needle in a haystack but if anyone could help me out id appreciate it heaps.. Im also looking on ebay at some non genuine front and rear bumper bar kits at $130 and $210 for each kit, the kits are from carsRus has anyone bought anything like that from them etc? The owner before has installed a standard lsd, lowered it and put disc brakes all round, if its an original turbo setup i dont know just yet and also extractors and an exhaust. Future mods are to obviously get all the body together and get it painted, ill be restoring the interior its original colour in a tech article i found on here, a new key and barrel as the current ones **** itself after 23 years and ill be having a crack myself at fixing the electric windows and power mirrors as there abit dodgy + all the other restoration bits and pieces. Anyway thanks for reading guys, if you havent got anything nice to say keep it to yourself, all positive feedback, hints and tips would be very helpfull.. Dave. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah thnx for all the feedback guys.. i love the silverslate to thts why i bought it! but i want everything to be original on the car.. and plus restoring it to the old colour makes it more easier for me so i dont have to pull the moulds off, koz ive heard theyre a headache.. vldubc i read ur thread earlier today and tht car is shmickk i love the silver, i think thats one of the first ones ive seen on her ct.com.au ive got a bit of an update. i attacked the rust in the boot today from about 10am til about 4pm with rust converter and metho. its gone all black now? im thinking of putting this rust guard liquid and then just spraying the whole boot floor with black spray paint, but will it just come back?

This is the wrong thread for inspiration. I decided to sell up due to the fact of biting off more than I could chew. Needed way too much work than I was prepared for so I flogged her off, I didn't want to half ass the job and waste money and I couldn't keep her around as we needed the space under the carport so now she's gone. My next Calais will definitely be a Silverslate one unless I find a bt1 lol. Absolute stunning colour. I've seen a few pop up for sale here and there but never had enough coin to pick one up Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
