Hey guys,
This has had me confused for a while but ive never really questioned it untill now.
Why do some hero's put there subbox facing towards the seats.
I mean, theres less air to move is there not?
What are the pro's and cons of each way the sub is facing?

Try a search in the car audio section....

I'd say if you had a middle rear seat that dropped down than yeah fair enough. But if you had no drop down middle rear seat it's just going to cause more vibrations. But if you have all of your vibrations fixed it actually sounds good from a distance. I have to subs facing in wards in my VZ because of the middle seat that drops down, sounds and feels great.

well....
i've spoken to someone and his stereo plays perfect
subs facing forwards (bascially touching rear seat)
rear seats up or down
windows/sunroof open/closed
boot open/closed
doors open/closed
no difference between any of them
he done lots of research over many many years mind you, there is alot to his stereo which is still a secret,
i do know a few things... his rear seat has the foam cut with 1/2" holes all over it, his sub boxes are almost touching the subs (thats how small) and the amps are stable to .25 of an ohm!
upon speaking regarding my stereo we, we will be BASCIALLY going forward facing
im trying to find a photo of the subs in his car

i think your wrong madwog...
It all depends if your going for SPL or SQL, the type of music you want to play and so on.. Like if you like hiphop/rap you dont want a fast moving setup built for techno..
and stable at .25.. what brand is it? never seen one that low..

old old soundstream's i forget the type and model... but i know soundstreams
he uses balanced lines, no rca's
also with 2 15's he can play techno (and regulally does) but that system is in its own league...
anyways, back to something we can all afford...
im goign to be firing my subs through the parcel shelf speaker holes

139.9db off the shelf full Alpine SD series. With the subs facing out the back (like the experts (many) said to set it up). Every system I have had fitted to my many cars over the years have always have had the subs facing out the back.

SPL = rear facing subs
SQL = Forward facing.

31-10-09, 18:04 GMT+10#12 SPL is Sound Pressure Level (loudest, not always the clearest)
SQL is Sound Quality Level (quality, perfection of all tones played)
A good sql setup will play all types of music, where as a spl setup will just play doof doof doof
