this is the story my car is losing water somewhere and i dont know where from, car is not overheating and there is a brown muck on the rad cap. what could this mean is it the head, the gasket, or losing it from somewhere else.

have you checked your engine oil/tranny fluids for any coolant contaminations?

oil look's good. didnt think to check the trans, but car drive's well just a lil ruff on idle sometimes!

Check the tranny fluid ASAP if it's frothy/foamy/creamy then ur in the poo. Otherwise if it's a nice clean red fluid and ur engine oil isn't contaminated either then the leak is likely an external one which is the better leak to have.

i havent check yet! but what's it gonna mean if the trans fuild is as above! crossing my fingers here

a bit of brown muck isnt much. It happens and Ive done over 100,000 with it happening... So no stresses with that mate. Rough on idle can be a few things but I would highly doubt that its got anything to do with crap under ur radiator cap.

if your not leavin water anywhere it be leakin while under pressure really itsnt a bad thing just keep an eye on it. if ur really stressed about it get ur block and radiator crack tested

The radiator has two 'chambers' roughly speaking.. one for the coolant the other for the auto fluid. if there is a leak between these chambers coolant is allowed to flow into your transmission and vice-versa. Tranny's don't like coolant! .. on the bright side it could be as simple as a dodgy radiator cap BUT eliminate the more costly possibilities first.
