Well, I was waiting for someone else to post it up, but looks like its up to me to get the ball rolling. Congrats to Andy for finally running a 9 with a 9.95@136mph in his mostly self built VL on the weekend, still on only 27psi and little 26x8.5's, stock axles and lsd and full weight apart from passenger seat. Other passes were 2x 10.1's and a 10.2 from memory, one of the 10.1's was even on radials!!
I'm sure he has video as ollie took plenty and I have some slow motion video of the rear end leaving the line I'll add in a few days. Congrats on the time mate and best of luck with going a lot faster with the little GT35
Cheers..............Kyle

thanks kyle and daz
was good to do it finally , and will certainly go faster with the 35 too.
was happy enuf with the 10.1 137mph on radials , im sure i could have left the line on more than 10psi with those radials too and maybe dropped the et a bit lower too.

I was looking through some old threads and VLGMH used 44psi through one, looked like it was still making power too. Howver thats an untouched GT35 1.06

Congrats on the time dude, very clean presented car...
maybe ollie can jump behind the wheel and create a part 2 of the super drift movie

Definitly had a 66mm wheel in the front of it, he even admitted it on this forum , yrs down the track after he sold the turbo. i know vlnitron here coudn't make anymore power over 27psi on his 3540 1.06, power hit a brick wall.

29-10-09, 11:37 GMT+10#11 exactly if you look at the compressor maps for a gt35r anything over 25 - 26psi and your starting to create more heat then power, yes you can boost them to 30-34psi but your just creating alot more heat then power values

29-10-09, 13:25 GMT+10#12 just out of interest has a vl ever ran a 9 on radials before or not as yet.

29-10-09, 19:03 GMT+10#13 Also Darren, Im not sure why a gt35 with a 66mm comp wheel would need 44psi to get into the high 9s, thats an awful lot of boost if its been modified. If it was internally standard it would make more sense.

29-10-09, 19:26 GMT+10#14 A conversation with the shop involved with the car at the time confirmed the 66mm wheel. The car ran a 9.6, I would hardly call that a high 9, and at the time, with car and engine tech, that was ballistic for a small frame turbo, hence the 44 psi probably pushed thru it. The 66mm wheel also likes higher boost pressures, 35+ psi no problem.
I guess time will tell, I'm sure Andy will retune it on higher boost at some stage, I'm confident the car has a low 9 in it with a GT35 on it, albeit stripped out and with some suspension tuning.

It ran 146mph in what was meant to be a full weight calais, just that tells you it wasn't a gt3540 ,apart from the fact he sold it on here and it had a 66mm front wheel and then admitted in one of the 3540 threads it had it the whole time.
Man thats even a massive effort for a 66mm in a heavy car.
44psi might have been peak boost on the spike through the midrange , but i would be more than highly sceptical that it held that boost up top, more like in the 30's.
If you go through the mph for everyone and work out averages, 136mph is flying for a auto car and 139-140mph is flying for a manual equipped car.
Do better than that and you've done extremely well, so i can't wait to see what Andy has up his sleeve still
cheers

A low 9 on a 3540, lightened or not would be legendary.
What mph do you think it would need kyle? 146-148?

29-10-09, 20:30 GMT+10#16 well bigpsi ran high 9s with a gt35 non roller with .063 rear so who knows what else was done to these turbos to get that times but your definetely right jetr31 its abit amazing to push 44psi through a 66wheel thats ALOT its almost double what a stock gt35r is capable of just from a wheel change?

lol that explains that then i was going to say there was pics of his old turbo floating around and it had a v band clamp in the middle between the snail and front section.
so basically it was a gt42 with a smaller compressor cover.

im pretty happy to do what i did. 137mph and a 9.9 , from a very tame setup , stock standard gt35.
i really would like to see how fast i can go retaining this turbo. we will see what happens
