20-01-10, 22:33 GMT+10#12 log onto street commodores. i'd put money on it that "Commodorenut" would know the answer.
They were also supposed to have a trip computer controller in that blank on the left hand side of the dash and you can even see it in the holden parts catalogue, but that too never made production.

21-01-10, 00:32 GMT+10#13 i am trying to catalogue vin numbers to see how many vls earlier than feb86 are getting around and it may also help me and a mate develop a program to tell the car owner what day(s) it came off the production line.also any data on building of the vl would be most helpful.cheers

22-01-10, 13:44 GMT+10#17 I have a Holden Heritage book at home which was released to celebrate 50 years of holden.
The book was released by the Public affair Department in conjunction with Holden and was released in 1998 It states the first VL Commodore to be launched was in Febuary 1986 From what i know vehicle manufactering starts exactly 3 months before a release date so december 1985 would be possible.
A total of 151,801 VL's were built wonder how many ones are left on the road that would be interesting!
