as the title says i have just got my car home from the throttle shop in gosford nsw where they just finished my rb26dett conversion to my vl (vl2nv) the motor is running fine sounds fat and the wiring is complete and is all good too. the car is driving but there is NO BOOST...has anyone here done this conversion or knows of any mechanic that may be able to help cause i have just put 10 k into this motor (not inc the price to buy the motor) to get it in the car running and there is no boost......shattered...... any advice would be very much appreciated right now as i want to have it boosting by the cruise in two weeks thanks VL2NV

First of all if it was me id start with the basics. 1. check all cooler pipes, idle bypass pipes, BOV (stock or after market) and waste gates. 2. its the factory twin turbos? take the inlet off and make sure there is a wheel there and its spinning 3. borrow or make a cooler pipe leak tester, easy to make and if you dont now look for mighty car mods on youtube for detailed explernation. 4. call the place you spend 10k at? Is it making any sounds at all? whats the boost gauges doing? what vac on idle and so on. im so 'nvs!' Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yes the place that did the work for you should rectify this check your actuators

Do you know the history of the motor? I'd be checking for leaks and the actuators like the other guys said. If not I'm going to have a really random guess and ask if its been overboosted and theres no ceramic exhaust wheels left on the turbos.

I feel for you mate, I've had this happen too, all the work to get it in and wired up, then, no boost.... Bad luck mate, I hope it's not what it seems to be. Fingers crossed it's a leaky intercooler pipe etc. But it will prob be a blown turbo. How does your engine run? Mine ran ok, but same thing, just no boost. Any smoke? Pull off your pipes, all the inlet ones (with the twin turbo badge on it), run your engine and feel for boost. You'll most likely get boost out of one and not the other. I'll put the house on it being the wheel off your back turbo. If it is, you'll also need to check your compression, cos sometimes when they let go, they put a heap of crap through your engine as well.. (which mine also did).

Make sure to get steel wheeled ones. Don't just replace with stock turbo's on the cheap.

dont just go replacing turbos if they are fine! work out the problem first.. But sounds like you could have dropped a rear wheel, But unlickly to drop both at once? Or some one else in the know might be able to answer then.. when one dies does the other try and do the job of both as the actuator wont open?

tomoz the car gets looked at by 2 mechanics to diagno the problem..and if its just blown turbos then the throttle shop said they will work with me and get it sorted for me at half the price... but if it there fu#k up then another preformance shop will be doing it and charging them..either way there will be new turbos.. has anyone got any advice on a twin turbo setup not a single turbo conversion that will preform.. RB26TTVL...... u so told me to change the turbos first when i first started this conversion and that this was gunna happen....U WERE RIGHT..

Yeah mate, the standard turbos are so fragile. Best thing you could do is flick them straight away. Did you go for bigger ones?

boost problem was solved with new upgraded turbos now vl2nv is OFF TAPP...rrraaaasssshshhhh now bigger front brakes to pull her up on the spot though i must admit the vl turbo brakes do work well, but they wont engineer it untill i get bigger brakes
