What do you guys think of these not impossible to get through but has to be a decent detterent you'd think and can easily be kept in the boot maybe even put a couple on ..... http://www.barsec.com.au/eMerchantPr...FQEupAodUxqY3Q (http://www.barsec.com.au/eMerchantPro/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=122&idproduct=81&gclid=CObHkMTRm50CFQEupAodUxqY3Q)

Yeh fair enough if you've got a cordless angle grinder and dont make enough noise to alert the owner or neighbours. I haven't got a car at the moment or a project but my brother who lives in the northern suburbs has a VL so he's thinking of a way to try and deter thieves obviously you cant completely make anything perfect just another obstacle to get around for the thief so he cant break into it with a common commodore key roll it out the driveway get it going down the street and you are none the wiser.

After hearing about more and more thefts especially in Northern Suburbs, Im contemplating fitting removable bollards on the inside of the garage door just for a little extra piece of mind... Would also make a handy club in the event of catching a would be thief in the act!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The wheel clamps i thought were a good idea cause you can put them in your boot and use them anywhere. Kill switches and alarms are a must but dont prevent a thief from rolling your car on the back of a tilt tray scary to think about it but i've heard of two people got there cars stolen like that and the neighbour didn't even think something was going on as the truck had it's orange flashing lights on......... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the way i see it, you have different levels of theft. there is one type who will break into the car to steal stuff to sell, joyride or vandalise. there is another wide band who will target a certain model or make and will know what cars to break into and which to avoid. the more experienced will keep an open mind and take what comes their wy but also be prepared to leave anything judged as risky because les be honest, theres always another, easier target just 100m away. then theres the scary sh*t, targeted. pro's who will do anything for your car. think the slr5000 that was towed from southland carpark or the storys of brocks dissapearing from locked and secured sheds with other cars moved. oh and the xa/b/c coupe at summernats not long ago. you have to count yourself lucky if all you get is a junky. you can avoid these guys by not leaving anything visible in the car including ipod adapters and navman mounts. (they are smart enough to know that most people just put hese under a seat or in a glovebox. oh and clean the rings the navmn mount leaves.) an alarm / other security measures will prevent amatuers from getting your car ad many pro's will leave it alone looking for another target. as for the targeted theft. you kinda have to realise that the only way to guard against that is a very tight set of lips. if they want it bad enough they wil get it.

cant ever have too much security. an alarm/immobilisor is a must, followed by a club lock and a padlock on the shifter on an auto. if u can be bothered get a chain and lock and lock up ur brake and accelerator pedal. also add a bed of nails under seat covers and ur good to go lol..

wouldnt you get charged for causing wreckless injury to others or some bull**** law if you had a bed of nails under your seat?? Coz there was a case about 4 years ago and a burglar fell over a vacuum cleaner cord and knocked them sleves out and managed to con some money out of the house owners, id imagine a bed of nails would incur come fun penailties??

im just following suit in going off topic... anyone hear of the case when a guy broke into a garage to steal something, the owner trapped him in there, took his mobile phone and wallet. and went on holiday for the weekend. the thief got out, and sued the home owner, for trapping him and won.. lol ( dont know if its bull****) was told by my tradie at work one day. i guess wheel clamps would be the way to go. just means that everytime u get home or anywhere u gota put the bloody thing on.

a simple thing ive done is put a battery isolator switch under the dash of the car which isnt visible unless you know that its there. the car is dead unless u flick the switch. even if they try to bridge the terminals on the starter because the switch is before the starter in the circuit, it wont start. my car has been broken into countless times and no ones managed to drive away with it. when i go on holidays or when the cars locked up for a few days, i unplug the plug to the fuel pump lol
