is there a better alternative to just the paper gaskets ? if so who does them ? please excuse my noobiness if there more than sufficient its just you hear of people blowing welds on plenums and you gotta wonder how long the gaskets hold up, maybe a thin smear of gasket sealant each side of it ?

I used Hylomar on several gaskets when i changed the head on my VL, unfortunately i forgot to install the 10mm bolt on the front corner of the head and had to take the inlet manifold off, after ten minutes that manifold gasket was stuck fast! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
