hey fellas, i've got a a8 rb30et thats been sitting around at my storage place for about 12 months, and i'm looking to stick it into a berlina i've got sitting around, so just wondering wat i should look at servicing before i put it in. I'm going to give it a basic service (oil, plugs, leads) as well as getting the injectors cleaned, but should i be looking at getting a new water pump etc? Any help or links are appreciated Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I'd change the water pump, timing belt and tensioner, also inspect the heater hoses...

check all the hoses and replace any that are hard and/or crispy too

i say service it like you would a normal car, let sleeping dogs lay good chance ull just cause problems rather then prevent them

Dont skimp, do as jet-086 said and do the timing belt. Its alot easier to do it while the engine is out. Might as sell fix some of the oil leaks when its out to. If you do the belt dont forget crank and cam seals.

also do the welsh plugs a hell of a lot easier when the engine is out of the car and they are about $1 each...

**** man, honestly, pull the whole engine down, u'll probably need to give it a hone, new rings and bearings.... LOL just put it in the car, it'll be fine, new radiator hoses oil and filter, DONE... replace anything else that gives u grief once it's in and running..

welsh plugs, timing belt, tensioner, water pump and crank and cam seals all easy to do when engines out and not to expensive either

I would replace the timing belt because just Imagen if your timing belt in RB30 breaks. You'll smash your pistons to pieces. Doesn't belts harden if not used on a regular basis? But then again the belt has knobs, still my question is, doesn't rubber harden? Sorry I'm just talking to myself!!
