I thought I would start a thread in this section to show you all the build so far of my VLT. I started this project around the begining of the year with a one owner VL Belina Formula I found for a very resonable price, it had very minimal rust and a few little parking dints. Since I had a good canvas to start from I thought id try get it painted first up. The plan was to get it in paint within the first couple of months but that was blown out by a fair few months. I finely picked it up this weekend from the painters and I am fairly happy with the result. I did all the prep work my self including priming then sent it off to have the paint put on. The color is night fire red and in the right light has a wicked pearl through it. It looks real good under show lighting.
The plan now as a short list is to.
Build a rotisery so I can flip her on its back to allow me to fit a R33 rear diff assembly, this will involve having to machine up some custom hubs to allow for the 5x120 commodore stud patten, strenghtning and modifying the strut towers to take the extra load of now having a sprung load instead of a shock load.
Installing a RB26DETT, due to the car being engineered it will be standard for the time being due to the engineer wanting me to run all standard gear including manifolds, turbos, ecu and airbox etc.
Ill be fitting a Walkinshaw body kit as im going for this low and wide look. Im also looking into fitting a set of 22' wheels under this after its been engineered only because someone told me you cant.
Im also looking into fitting a VS dash and cluster into it but can only find very limited information into this. I know it can be done as I have seen it before. Im thinking about using the whole VS vehicle loom and retro fitting it into the VL.
There is alot more that will be going into this ie. painting the bay after I have fitted the engine. brakes, gearbox the list keeps going on. I would like to have this finished within a couple of years but ill just have to see how it all goes together and get some of these other projects out the way.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I thought id spend a little time on some of the small things tonight. I masked up around the rear lights ready to paint black tommorow night. I also took apart the door handles and blasted them. I am going to paint these black but im thinking of doing them the same color as the car, unless a get a reply from someone strongly thinking the should be done the same color I think ill be doing them black. I also bought some after market lights for it. Im quite unhappy with how these fit so I think ill be using the original backs and replacing the reflectors and glass with the new ones.

s2 formula headrests inserts. nice. only ever seen them once before on ebay.
nice build by the way, good to see you are blacking out behind that taillights. i would also black out behind the front bumper,
how are the handles coming up? able to retain a nice finish over the ridged face? i would have thought thered be a tendency for the paint to run.

These head rests seem to be worth a fair bit, god knows why. I painted the handles today, no problems with the ridged face. I thought there would be but as the paint dried it settled into the groves. I used some crap paint I has laying around was way to thin but I made do. Ill post some pics during the week when they dry.
Im planing on putting walky bars on it so I dont think blacking the front out will make much difference, correct me if im wrong. When I flip the car over to install the diff ill clean and paint the under side to.
