I really don't think it's necessary to have a larger lift pump.
My car has a Bosch 600HP fuel pump with a standard lift pump and have no issues with fuel pressure when pushing 18psi. Most of your pressure is from the external pump so if you are changing pumps I'd go for a external 600HP fuel pump.
