hey guys just a quick question, i was wondering how hard it would be to get a LS3 into a VL?? i dont want a drilling on how much money would be spent but i have seen stock ls3's forsale for $6950, a t56 gearbox for $2500ish. what else would i need and how much would it cost?? i would love to try this as doing another turbo'd 6 would get abit repeditave... cheers for all the comments

i recently seen a vn get done with a ls2 for just over 13k with new crate motor, box and what not, all brand new gear. id budget for 20k turn key with ls3. can always be cheaper, depends if you just wanna bolt it in or do some mods while its there. personally id be looking at doing an L98, good motor out of the lot and good bang for buck performance.

Ls3 and Ls1 are nearly identical dimensions. Need an Ls1 - L76 Sump with the front hump. But wiring i dunno because i beleive they run a different management, TPS/ISC is the one unit ect ect..

LS3 is a pretty amazing motor. The numbers getting thrown around for cam/springs (238/244 612' 612 112-114LSA) have seen north of 350rwkw. Possibly one of the best small blocks ever. It is the same in dimension as the LS1 etc and the conversion kits should all work. It is a different ECU and some sensors etc, but conversion stuff is available from GM Motorsport etc etc. Its much easier to use an earlier ECU and delete the fly by wire throttle.

ls3 engine is a revised engine over the ls1-ls2 stuff- when you get deep into them you will see some issues from the ls1 stuff been address in the ls3- the factory sleeves have step up a gear also- they will take 600-750 at the engine without a hick-up same blocked used in the zr1 ls9 corvette . they are a killer base to start off for power people compare the ls2-l98 engines(364 ci) over the ls3 (375 ci and say only 11 cubes)..........................you are not paying for the extra 11 cubes you are paying for a new revised engine in other areas that gm did not address way back.................. I have done a few ls3 to say that the extra cubes really make the later heads use that air flow............

The results I'm gettin from my ls1 are pretty great drives nice and goes hard! It is definitally worth doing but I bought a wrecked vy ss for 2500 I can't imagine how much it would have cost if I had to buy look engine and box.
