i recently bought a VL for my first car and all the badges have been removed. I always thought it was an SL but now i am unsure of what it really is. My mate bought a Vacationer and it has a blue interior and i have seen some Executives have the beige interior Here are some pics of it if anyone can steer me in the direction of what it is? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

it appears to be a SI and either a SL, exec or BT1, these had the beige or blue interior but your pics showing your red and black seat covers don't help much check the small painted plate on the firewall and post details up

The car is at the mechanics but I'll have a look when I get it back, is it the 2 silvery looking plates a bit to the passenger side of the middle? Is there any other defining features which could be show off pics that I could post up??

Could also be a S1 Formula with the bottom lip on the bumper removed. Same with the boot lid.

Use the VIN calculator, it should tell all. You could also lift the carpet and look for the build sheet, I found mine on the rear driver side, but apparently they could be anywhere, if still there.

beige was available across the range as was red / grey / blue and green. your car has a dash badge which says SL. it also has sl/exec spec door cards. it has a dash cluster with a tacho and other gauges which would suggest it is a turbo / v8 or a upper spec dash has ben fitted at some stage. there was also a option pack called 'formula' which included colour coded bumpers and mirrors. since your car has the black window surrounds which were painted on berlinas / calais and the white looks a bit too bright i am thinking your car has copped a respray at some stage. overall i'd say its an sl or exec which has been resprayed at one stage with matching bumpers and black window surrounds and that someone has also put a different dash cluster in. my guess is it started life as a 2 tone sl / exec. its also evident its not a trubo as its missing the turbo dash badge hence why i think the dash isn't original.

please remove the clear tail lights. go find your VIN, write it down, and put it into this. http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread...vin+calculator (http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=18183&highlight=vin+calculator)

Thanks for that mate, it doesnt have power steering so im thinking it may be a SL, there isnt much difference though is there? Yeah im pretty sure the dash isnt original coz its a bit loose at the top aswell as the calais/brock guages i got it for 1700, ill tell u guys the specs and what needs to be done to it *roughly 8 or 9 months rego *Full custom 2.5 inch exhaust whole way through (loud as and good sound) *Clarion sound system (head unit, 2 6x9 speakers, amp, and 12 inch 600 watt sub) *5 Speed *No badges, gas struts, clear taillights *125 000 kms (pretty sure its original, considering/engine bay is in good condition and car was out west) *Lowered and tinted windows, 18 inch rims, solex security locks, full metal jacket, momo steering wheel Thats pretty much all the stuff it came with and a few of the things ive done, here is what i am going to do to it *New tyres *Power steering *Brock/calais brakes and lsd diff *2 x 10 inch subs in boot and put 6 inch subs in all the doors *Pod filter *Keyless entry/central locking thats hopefully how it will end up once ive sold it, im pretty happy with it i rekon i got a good deal and its a pretty unique car
