What does everyone think about Holden going back to an NA 3 litre capacity engine in the VE Commodore?
I've heard owners of the 3.6 litre cars complaining that engine lacks torque in a car which weighs 1500 kgs or more let alone than dropping the capacity back to 3 litres , despite having 190 KW and 290 NM of torque.
I found with a multi valved non turbo 3 litre the torque was good (better than an RB30E) but its power came in mainly in the top RPM range and was in a car weighing 1200 kgs, not 1500+ kgs.
I think it will be like back in the days where they had the 4 cylinder Commodore which had to be thrashed to get some decent performance out of it negating any savings on fuel over the bigger sixes.
from what ive heard holden and ford both will be changing there engine types mainly to compete with the higher selling camry
from what ive heard there could be a 2L turbo falcon coming our way

The new 3.0L and 3.6L Direct Injection motors together with the 6 speed autos in the MY10 are a massive improvement from the old 3.6L. They do not need to be thrashed to get the most out of them
The 3.0L is rated at 9.3L / 100km which is better than v6 camry, aurion, falcon, mondeo, CRV and even that Lexus hybrid thing
Go test drive one and you will be very impressed
Stevo 88: 3.0L is standard in Berlina and omega
I suppose technology has changed a bit and they can get the most out of these engines...
If not... it will be another VH with a starfire 4cyl bomb
