Hi guys Having some problems with the vl turbo and its kinda got me stumped as to whats wrong. Well Ive had my license suspended for 9 months (Wont go into it, didn't deserve it). Ive got a month to go so I'm keen to get it going again. When I took it off the road it was running grate at 18-19pound with a high-flow t3/t4, JD custom plenum, Bosch injectors and haltech E6K ECU and the usual 3" exhaust and kooler. Made around 360RWHP After about a month of being off the road I started her up and there was a bad miss fire anyway ended up being 2 bad leads, replaced them and it was running grate again. It sat for around another 2 months till I got on the piss with a mate I hadn't seen for ages and wouldn't shut up till I started it up for him and gave it a rev anyway started up fine would of been idling for around 45 minute with a few hard free revs (Being drunk n stupid). From what I remember it was running fine when I turned it off. Next day went to move it back to the garage and it was hard to start and the bad miss was back like it was running on 4 cylinders. Checked spark plugs, leads, cap, rotor button all seemed fine pulled each lead off while it was running and It was getting spark at each plug. Checked each lead resistance 1: 3.30ohms / 630mm long 2: 4.55ohms / 900mm long 3: 4.94ohms / 950mm long 4: 4.93ohms / 950mm long 5: 4.92ohms / 950mm long 6: 4.82ohms / 950mm long Coil Lead: 2.34ohms / 450mm long That seems all good to me?? All injectors are ticking the same using a screw driver as a stethoscope Also have done a compression test of all cylinders and was around 130psi on all cylinders. Signal from the CAS on the laptop seemed fine too. Also for the last few months before I lost my license it was using a little water which seemed to get worse but was running perfect. May have a Leak somewhere. Id fill the over flow bottle up go for a drive to town and back (around 30km round trip) and it would be back on half sometimes low but wouldn't drop any further I'm kinda thinking its head gasket/head related just not sure. Could old fuel be the problem?? Just weird how it happened over night. Any Ideas would be helpful. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Might give it new plugs and leads before I go pulling the head off. Thanks. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks. i know you said you checked but it isn't a dead lifter is it? short the spark out and see if it is actually pulsing if you have 130psi over over cylinder you should not be having a miss due to a mechanical failure unless you've done dmg to the top end Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

How would i go about testing them without pulling them out?? Also what do you mean by short the spark out and see if its actually pulsing?? Do you mean earthing the injector out?? Yeh compression test checked out good. Id rather do a leak down test but don't have the equipment Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Id rather do a leak down test but don't have the equipment no real way to test them, its a symptom of low oil pressure to the head, can be due to not being run for ages and the lifters bleeding out or flogged bearings resulting in lower top end pressure (sometimes heard by ticking) it takes 20 mins to change them over so get a spare pair and give it a crack sort of hard to explain how many things it can be over here without seeing the car in person Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yeah I realize its hard to diagnose a problem without seeing the car in person, but thanks for your help. It has a loud tick sometimes when it hasn't been started in a while and goes away in a second or two. I dunno ill keep fooling around with it this arvo and see what i come up with.

If they got air in em they wouldn't open the valves properly meaning it may be running lean on a few cylinders am I right?? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Nar don't wanna put any treatments in the car would rather fix the problem. Dam flat battery in the car and camera so charging both up to take the vid.

why don't you start with the basics and work out which cylinders are miss fireing first? we use to do this by disconnecting injectors and watching for a change in the engine, no change with that injector and thats the cylinder with the problem. Note only do one cylinder at a time. as for lifters i have never had a hydralic lifter be stuffed that bad. It would be hell noisy, they usually don't make it miss that bad either and as for a cheap fix a new set your looking at around $700.00 trade price and it could be bad fuel. I would find the miss first then try a lead on that or those cylinders and check the plugs but bad fuel usually gives a funny exhaust smell

This is nearly exactly the drama I have
