Hey guys
Thought i would just give u guys a heads up i heard from a very close contact a *copper* just got sent an email today saying that from now on they are alowed to give out Major defects for Walls as its "a risk that the tyre may fail at any time and put the operator and other road users at risk."
Its f**ked hopefully they dont police it much!

You do scrape a tiny amount of rubber off the tyre before applying the white wall but unless it was pretty deep I can't see it being an issue and affecting the integrity of the tyre wall.
If I had them I would tell the copper they are made like that... because you can buy tyres with white walls in them that are not aftermarket.

It's grooved with a grinder.

It's because some of the walls cut out or cover tyre size, load rating ect making it unable to be read.

08-09-09, 17:54 GMT+10#12 yeh they have to buff off some of the lettering, but i thought they always had a law against cos u scraped away info on your tyres?

08-09-09, 17:56 GMT+10#13 as above the specs of the tyre are removed in the process thereby making it an unknown grade/standard of tyre
the old school ones had the tyre specs still written on them often on the white wall
like with everything it's your call whether you think thoroughly through what choices you make about your car
it's hardly anyone elses fault if you don't make the right enquiries first before going ahead and end up getting fined and throwing money away
whitewalls are only an automotive 'fashion statement' after all

08-09-09, 18:24 GMT+10#14 be smart dont scrape off the lettering and ****
when i had double walls my letterings (tyre specifications) were between each wall.
cop tried to do me for it, but i showed him that the lettering was all still there and hadnt been touched so he let me off.

08-09-09, 18:33 GMT+10#15 just get a small mirror and tell them to read the details off the un-whitewalled side of the tyre lol

08-09-09, 18:54 GMT+10#16 I have been hearing talk of this for a while and are amazed that it has taken this long for something to come out. I can see where they are comming from as untrained idiots can rip the crap out of ya tyres but it will be good to see how they police this.

08-09-09, 23:12 GMT+10#20 yeah but the police here wont do you for white walls unless they go on a mega blitz i cruise my hwy with a semi obvious vlt and i go past them all the time
and if they say these are illegal say "since when" - make the cadillac argument
or just do what chemical did
