I am thinking of selling my VL 1987 S2 Calais genuine manual shell, excludes motor and transmission. Any feedback with regards to what I could expect to sell this for would be most appreciated.
Car has been fully resprayed inside and out in custom red over silver at a cost of ten thousand dollars.
It also includes brand new genuine headlights, indicator lights and tail lights, center garnish and grill also genuine and brand new. 3" mandralbent exhaust system magnaflow mufflers, genuine brand new full rubber kit, brand new front and rear screens. New suspension 9/10 with 50/50 shocks, also FE2 springs and upgraded VT brakes.
VL Turbo diff shortened with 31 splined axles, and brand new mini spool diff center with 3,4,5 gear ratio.
Custom interior, VSGTS back seats and front seats in series 2 calais fabric, also includes drop tank in two pac black paint with chrome straps.

mmmm 5k - 7k i think it would be snapped up in no time, but i think its worth alittle more than that........ may be 10k at the lowest, by the sounds of it all you'd need is a motor & box & its play time
???? doest it come with the factory 5 spd box & a full system ????

10k for what ? are you being srs.. i have seen this car i dont no were you spent 10k on the repsray? i doubt theres custom trim thats worth 4k that comes with the shell so whats worth 10k i reckon 5k max..

In all seriousness i think 8-10k would be a steal for someone and a quick sale.
Truth be told its a flawless body/paint job and a genuine manual calais turbo shell.
Plus to get body/paint as this car is it would cost well above 10k not to mention the head aches and heartaches involved with dealing with painters/beaters
If it comes with the mx7 box prob 12k mark
Great buy for someone if you decide to go through with this.

Your car looks great Duff; I saw it at the Heathcote SA day, and I have to say the paint stands out from a long way away. It's like a factory Marinello, but much nicer.
Let's be serious guys - this car is set ujp to run 10s, with the right motor and box. It has the added addition of not only being LW5/MX7, but having an immaculate paint job, and custom trim. I'm with Chris on this, $8K.
lol trkwpn man think about wat u say before u type it funny that the guy that baught gldjet got a full respray could not have been that good duf 588 is 10 times better

id say 8-10k also, spend another 10k on motor and tranny and u have urself an animal worthy of a show
and those pics dont do the car justice, it really is flawless and a work of art
pics are incredible and if they dont do it justice then ide buy it if i didnt wanna build my own.. its a perfect eg of a VL Calais. love everything about it bar 2 things ,FR's are to common even tho they look good and im not into those brackets that hold gauges..thats it.. car is amazing and not over done. so why selling it?
$$ if its the whole lot minus motor and gear box and its set for 10's with the right gear, then ide pay 1k per second haha.

You can buy a calais turbo in neat condition for say $6k. Plus this one has immaculate paint and panel, a 31 spline rear, custom interior, full rubber kit and glass, plus more.
If it were mine I wouldnt let it go for less than $10k as a roller. Someone that has an engine and box sitting there would have a mint CT for under $12-15k.

are u serious dude? haha easily 10k on respray inside and out, i work in a panel shop and can see 10k for a job like this,

Thank guys for the positive feeback so far.
The whole car has been painted in Glaz which is not cheap (inl the silver, red and black got done), which is time consuming because everything has to be done sep to dry.
if your gna spend money then you better of doing it once. The paint job is still of the gun hasnt been rubbed back yet.
Its getting flow coated in 3-4 weeks, so thats were the 10k comes in
LS1PWR i got the whole manual conversion and the standard full system
